Last week our club enjoyed a special presentation from the new Superintendent of Grady County Schools, Dr. Jordan Williams. He was the guest of Rotarian, Adam Starr. There were several topics Dr. Williams discussed but the one that stood out the most is the importance of school safety and the safety of our students, teachers and staff. We are very excited to have Dr. Williams in Grady County and look forward to the knowledge and expertise he brings to our school system.

Last week we enjoyed a special visit from Stephen Francis’s mom, Jeanette Kirk. Stephen plays such an important role in our community with the Jackie Robinson Boys and Girls Club it was a joy to have his mom with us to be able to share with her the impact he makes here. Stephen also took the opportunity to share with us a little bit about Ms Jeanette and thank her for all she means to him. We look forward to having her back the next time she is in town.

Today Stephen Strickland shared with us the importance of native plants. Stephen has been in the nursery business for 30 years and has a passion for natives. It was because of this passion, a new business was born. Stephen along with his wife Brande own Strickly Native. Thank you to Kaye's Caring Hands for being our program on Wednesday and sharing your passion for caring for others. They pride themselves on treating your family like their family. Angela, the owner of Kaye's Caring Hands, explained the many services they offer from skilled nursing and companion care to palliative care. Services are available in South Georgia and North Florida.

Wednesday we enjoyed a very informative program from Darcy Hunter with Living Bridges Ministry located in Valdosta, Ga. Living Bridges Ministry works to help build bridges in faith to help educate people about the resources that will help meet their individual needs and thrive in every aspect of life. They offer many different ministry programs including Clothing Ministry, Community Garden, Kid’s Connection and several others. This week we enjoyed a program from Grady County’s E-911 director, Patrick Slaughter. Patrick discussed the changes with the current 911 center and what we can expect in the near future when Grady County’s own E911 center is operating.

Today, we celebrate another year of Service Above Self as we pass the gavel to new leadership.

A huge thank you to Adam Clark for a job well done and for the time, leadership, and service he has given to our club over the past year. Your dedication is appreciated, and we are grateful for all you have done!

We are also excited to welcome Brooke Jones as our new Rotary President! We look forward to the year ahead and all the great things to come under her leadership.

Here’s to another year of serving our community, building friendships, and making a difference together! 💙💛
