🏆 Two Award-Winning Projects. One Commitment to Reliability.

We're proud to share that both Las Virgenes Municipal Water District and the Las Virgenes-Triunfo Joint Powers Authority have been recognized with the 2025 American Public Works Association (APWA) Project of the Year Award in the Environmental Category.

✅ Calleguas–Las Virgenes Interconnection
This regional partnership project strengthens water reliability, enhances resiliency, expands opportunities for recycled water use, and creates new pathways for collaboration between neighboring agencies.

✅ Malibou Lake Siphon Replacement
This critical infrastructure upgrade replaced a 50-year-old sewer siphon crossing, protecting Medea Creek and Malibou Lake while ensuring reliable wastewater service for the communities we serve.

These projects represent the power of long-term planning, regional partnerships, and investment in essential infrastructure that protects our environment and strengthens our water future.

Thank you to the American Public Works Association Ventura Chapter for this recognition and to the many agencies, partners, consultants, contractors, and staff members who helped make these projects a success.

Happy 2026 World Oceans Day from LVMWD! 🌎🌊

This year, the theme for World Oceans Day is to “Reimagine” our relationship with the ocean and a project we’ve been working on does exactly that.

In 2023, we began working with a new company called OceanWell to pilot their innovative technology and explore a more sustainable, ocean-friendly approach to desalination - one that helps protect marine life while creating a reliable local water source. Oceanwell’s deep sea pods use the ocean’s own natural pressure to filter seawater and is designed to protect marine life while requiring nearly half the amount of energy used by traditional desalination methods.

During the pilot that took place in the Las Virgenes Reservoir, the pods produced more than 150,000 gallons of exceptionally pure water, showing promise for a new source of drinking water for Southern California and beyond.

As we reimagine our relationship with the ocean, we’re also reimagining and investing in our water future.

Wildlife Alert! 🐻

Last week, this beautiful bear made a surprise stroll through our Headquarters parking lot! Turns out, this was the mama bear of two cubs spotted nearby earlier last week.

We’re proud to share the Santa Monica Mountains with incredible wildlife, but this sighting is a good reminder to stay alert and drive carefully around Las Virgenes Rd. and surrounding schools and neighborhoods.

At LVMWD, we value environmental stewardship through practices like toxin-free pest control and habitat monitoring to keep both our facilities and local ecosystems safe.

Stay alert and help protect our local wildlife! 🌿
