Calabasas-Las Virgenes Historical Society The Calabasas-Las Virgenes Historical Society was formed in 1979 to promote and preserve the historical interest of Calabasas and its surrounding environs.

The Calabasas-Las Virgenes Historical Society
is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was formed in 1979 by a grass roots volunteer effort to promote and preserve the historical interest of Calabasas and its surrounding environs. Through the dedication of volunteer members, CLVHS has successfully created an organization involved in many aspects of historical preservation that includes:

· Mainta

ining archives and collections containing the historical treasures of the area
· Offering tours and special programs highlighting the area's culturally-rich history
· Honoring citizens who have contributed to the history of Calabasas with the Living History award
· Providing annual scholarships to students
· Partnering with other organizations and local government in preservation goals and public programs

CLVHS is proud to have a group of dedicated individuals who continue to support, expand and enhance the efforts of CLVHS. The Board of Directors is elected annually to lead the organization and oversee special committees that allow CLVHS to accomplish so many of its goals. historical interest of Calabasas and its surrounding environs through education, programs and the exchange of ideas and information with other organizations. The Calabasas Historical Society helps maintain the collection of artifacts, photos, and research materials relating to the colorful history of a region that attracts the interest of people from around the world. Pamphlets describing walking tours of Park Moderne and Old Town Calabasas are available through the Calabasas Historical Society. Our historical society is an active organization offering many exciting ways to make history while helping to preserve it. As a member you can learn more about local history, share friendship over history, or help advance history education and programs within the community. CLVHS relies on both financial and volunteer support to help preserve, share and add to the local historical collection and provide the important public programs to ensure that the areas rich heritage continues to be enjoyed by today's generations. This complex has been doomed since 2023 when Rick Caruso announced redevelopment plans for the site It'll be apartments plus some commercial space. The theatre opened in 1998 as the Edwards Grand Palace 6. Thanks to Chris Nichols for the alert about the sad news.

OPEN HOUSE at the Chatsworth Museum and Homestead Acre on August 3rd Sunday 1-4pm. Open the first Sunday of the month.
Join us in the museum and cottage.
Visit our gardens that include over 16 types of fruit trees and beautiful roses.
Come learn about Chatsworth History on the historic property originally homesteaded by Rhoda and James Hill. Minnie Hill Palmer, born on the homestead in 1886 raised her own family in the cottage. In 1980 the Homestead Acre was opened to the public. Come learn about your Chatsworth community.

Evacuations were ordered in the Hidden Hills area, from Vanowen south to Burbank Boulevard and from County Lane Road east to East Valley Circle Boulevard.

There are also evacuation warnings in Calabasas, from Kanan Road and Agoura Road, east of Kanan Road to Deer Hill.

The Kenneth Fire started around 3:16 p.m. on Victory Boulevard west of Gilmore Street in West Hills.

The City continues to monitor the Palisades Fire. Evacuation warnings are still in place. The City encourages all residents to review real-time updates on evacuation orders and warnings at protect.genasys.com.

The City's recreation facilities will be closed until further notice due to wind and fire hazard. City Hall and the Library remain open at this time.

Evacuation points have been established for residents and animals, including:
Agoura Animal Care Center (Small Animals), 29525 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills, CA 91301

Pierce College Equestrian Center (Large Animals), 6201 Winnetka Ave, Woodland Hills, CA 91367

High winds and dangerous fire conditions are forecast from Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the Santa Monica Mountains Region. SCE may have to shut off your power to decrease risk of dangerous wildfires.

For the latest updates, outage map, and information about SCE customer care services, visit sce.com/psps. If your power is shut off, SCE has opened a Regional Resource Center at the Calabasas Community Center at 27040 Malibu Hills Rd.

Additionally, due to the critical fire weather concerns Topanga Canyon will be closed to residents only starting at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday January 7th.
