🚑🔥 Big News for Calamus! 🔥🚑

Starting tomorrow, the Calamus Volunteer Fire Department will officially begin running EMS calls as a First Responder Service.

This is a huge win for the safety of our community.

What does this mean? It means when you call for a medical emergency, help will arrive even faster. Our trained firefighters will respond immediately, begin patient care, and provide critical support until transporting EMS arrives. In emergencies, those first few minutes matter — and now Calamus residents will have help on scene sooner than ever.

This step forward strengthens the protection of our families, friends, neighbors, and visitors. It reflects our department’s continued commitment to serving this community at the highest level.

We are proud to take this next step in improving public safety for Calamus.

The Calamus Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a Fireman’s Breakfast on Sunday, November 16th, 2025 at the CALCO in Calamus from 7am until noon. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy! $10/person. The raffle will be gift cards to Gone Country, Calamus Country Store, and Lincolnway Auto. Now that the department has sent members through classes to get First Responder qualification, the proceeds from the raffle will go towards the purchase of a new AED for the First Responders.
