Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Pond Management Clinic yesterday evening! We were excited to see such a great turnout and were grateful that the weather held off for the event.
Although recent rain made conditions too muddy for a live Muck Commanders Pond & Lake Services demonstration in the pond, Reece still gave attendees an up-close look at the Weedoo TC 3012 and shared valuable information about its capabilities and uses in pond management.
Participants also learned about aquatic plant identification and pond management practices from Christine Gelley from Ohio State University Extension-Noble County and Kirstin to help maintain healthy ponds. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event a success!

Tis the season folks. Hundreds of calls come in every year to local soil and water conservation districts and ODNR. Leave them be. Walk away. And always give them 24 hours to let the mother move them again. A large percentage of the time they will not be in that same place 24 hours later

🦌 Please Leave Fawns Alone ❌
Each year well meaning people come across a sight like this and think something is wrong. This is completely normal behavior for a deer fawn, and human intervention is unnecessary.
⭐ The More You Know 🌈
⏺️ Fawns are born nearly scentless (so predators cannot find them easily). They also have spots that serve as camouflage and are able to stand soon after being born, but as a protective tactic will remain hidden.
⏺️ It is common for female deer in urban areas to place fawns around homes, backyards, or flower beds. The mother placed it there because she felt it would be safe (often intentionally near humans).
⏺️ To protect her fawn, the mother will spend very little time with it. This is to prevent attracting predators to the fawn’s location. She will leave her fawn in various hiding places for long periods of time, returning several times a day to nurse it. By staying away, the mother is protecting it.
⏺️ Fawns will begin following their mothers at four weeks old. When they are two months old, fawns are able to forage for themselves and are completely weaned from their mother.

For this , we're talking about Ohio's cutest residents - the ones you may see curled up in your backyard around this time of year🦌

You may be asking yourself, "what do I do if I see a baby animal left alone in my yard?" (Great question by the way). Here are some things you need to know:
- Wildlife parents often leave their nest or young in a location they consider safe while they forage or hunt nearby.
- A parent is almost always nearby and will come back as needed to feed and care for them.
- The best thing for you to do is keep your distance (and be proud that your yard feels safe for wildlife!)
