Monroe County Senior Center was honored to celebrate Older Americans Month with our seniors and recognize the inncredible impact they have on our community. We were also pleased to have Commissioner Mick Schumacher join us in celebrating and honoring our seniors.

Established in 1963, Older Amerinans Month recognizes the wisdom, contributions, and achievements of older adults and the important role they play in strengthening our communities and inspiring future generations.

Our celebration included a delicious meal, fellowship, laughter, and a lively game of Trivia, where seniors enjoyed some friendly team competition and plenty of fun together.

We are grateful for our seniors and all they contribute each day. Let us continue to respect, cherish, and honor them - today and every day.

At Noble County Senior Center, we were honored to celebrate Older Americans Month with a delicious meal, live music, door prizes, and fellowship. Commissioner Brian Carter, Commissioner Alan Fraley, Sheriff Jason Mackie, Director of Noble County DJFS Misty Wells, GMN Executive Director Jennifer Mackie, and GMN Operations Director Anissa Hand also joined us in celebrating and recognizing the incredible seniors who mean so much to our community.

Since Older Americans Month began in 1963, it has served as a special time to recognize the resilience, wisdom and lifelong contributions of older adults. Our seniors have helped shape our families, strengthen our communities, and inspire generations through their hard work, kindness, and unwavering strength.

Let us always remember to respect, cherish, and honor our seniors- not just during Older Americans Month, but every day.

After lunch at the Monroe County Senior Center, participants traveled to Westwood Place for Senior Fun Day. Staff welcomed the group and provided a relaxed, organized setting for the event.

Refreshments were served, including sliders, fruits and vegetables, chips & salsa, and punch. Music played throughout the program, participants were able to sing along and dance if they chose. Games, such as ring toss and a cup activity were offered, and some attendees also took part in facility tours provided by Westwood Place staff.

The space was decorated for the event, including a balloon arch used for a group photo. Overall, the program provided a structured afternoon of activities and social interaction for those that attended.

The Noble County Senior Center enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon of Easter activities following their meals. We colored eggs and played Chicken BINGO. Paul Smith and Irene Wilson were the big winners for the day. Finally, the seniors joined the Egg Exchange, rolling dice to determine whether they could keep their decorated egg or trade them with another senior. Each egg contained Senior Bucks or a number corresponding to a prize, such as chocolate rabbits, Easter decor, and Peeps. Our Easter basket winners were Don Egnot, Betty Ramage, and Irene Wilson. The seniors had a great day playing games, making crafts, and enjoying a great meal.
