The town of Sheldon was organized May 11, 1858, at a meeting held in the village. The officers elected were: Supervisors, John Brown, chairman; Steiner Knudson and Henry Olson; town clerk, James Patton'; assessor, Michael Ryan; collector, Lawrence Lynch; justices of the peace, Lyman B. Fetsan; constable, Bartholomew Henry; overseer of the poor, John Paddock.

Sheldon Township Meetings are held every second Thursday of every month at 6:00 pm. All residents are welcome and encouraged to attend.

NOTICE OF LOCAL BOARD OF APPEAL AND EQUALIZATION

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the Board of Appeal and Equalization for the Township of Sheldon in Houston County, Minnesota, will hold their annual LBAE meeting for the purpose of determining whether taxable property in the jurisdiction has been properly valued and classified by the assessor for the year 2022.

Due to the COVID-19 Health Pandemic, as labeled by the Center for Disease Control, if any Sheldon resident wishes to participate in the meeting, we endorse using face masks and social distancing. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) supplies will be available to the public.

If you believe the value or classification of your property is incorrect, please contact the Houston County Assessor’s Office to discuss your concerns. The board will review your assessments and make corrections as needed.
