Cal-Mum Community Education held two fun activities recently.
On November 8 we had a cooking class for young people who find themselves needing a little snack after school and weekends.
Hanley Dykstra taught the class how to make baked po stuffed with broccoli, bacon and cheese and pizza crescent roll ups.
You may have met Mrs. Dykstra in the kitchens at the Genesee Country Village as a costumed period cook.

Last Saturday, Mrs. Katrina Hatch took a group of parents and students geocaching in the community. There are many caches hidden in Cal-Mum and the students discovered two of them.

Cal-Mum Community Education is open to the public and all ages.
We hope you can join us for a future activity!

We had a fabulous morning at Cal-Mum Central School at the springerle cookie class.
Amy Dykstra, a 19th century cook at Genesee Country Village & Museum, showed us how to make these beautiful impression cookies.
We made several flavors and used a variety of molds to create our springerle cookies.
This class was a mix of children and adults and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.
“It was really nice to be with people and just have nice conversation,” said one of participants.
It definitely was!

Next class coming in April-
Let’s Talk Gardening.
There’s nothing better than fresh vegetables and fruits in season. It’s wholesale, delicious and nutritious for your family.
And easier than you think to grow your own!
And it doesn’t require a large piece of land.
Mary Margaret Ripley, The Professional Domestic, is coming to Cal-Mum to talk about gardening. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or this season is your first, Mary Margaret has a lot of great tips to share!
