With a career that spanned over four decades, Coach Randy Steward left an extraordinary mark on the sport of wrestling — both nationally and here in Gordon County. Since taking over as head wrestling coach at Sonoraville High School in 2017, he led the program to incredible success, including back-to-back AAA Traditional State Championships in 2018, 2019 and 2020, and a runner-up finish in 2017.
Coach Steward will be inducted, posthumously, into the Sports Hall of Fame Saturday night.

Eric Putnam was a standout multi-sport athlete at Red Bud High School, excelling in cross country, track, and football. He was named Calhoun Times Athlete of the Year in 1976 and left an enduring legacy in Georgia high school athletics. Congratulations to Eric for this induction into the CHSHOF this Saturday!

Lamar McEntire was a dominant force on both the basketball court and the football field during his time at the Georgia School for the Deaf from 1989 to 1993. A four-year letterman in both sports, Lamar’s leadership, skill, and determination set him apart.
In football, he was a defensive powerhouse, earning the title of National Defensive Player of the Year in 1992. He was a two-time All-American (1991,1992), Team MVP and Captain in 1992, and helped lead GSD to back-to-back Deaf National Championships! We’re super-pumped to induct Lamar to the SHOF…..
