McLean County Public Schools

This morning around 7:30, we received a call on our bus radio to call 911 due to a vehicle crossing the line on Hwy 136 and colliding with one of our buses. Our driver did an outstanding job of keeping the bus on the road until the very end. The bus did turn over, but there were no serious injuries. Three students and the other driver were transported by EMS to the hospital to be evaluated. We want to thank all the First Responders, Dispatch, and School Personnel who showed up to help at the scene. We also want to commend the students on the bus for doing an excellent job on the bus evacuation. They implemented their training perfectly.

To help keep traffic moving smoothly and avoid backups on Main Street during our food distribution days at Calhoun Elementary School each Tuesday, we are asking families to try to arrive at the suggested times below based on the last name of the person driving the vehicle:
• A–D: 11:00 AM
• E–H: 11:20 AM
• I–M: 11:40 AM
• N–Q: 12:00 PM
• R–U: 12:20 PM
• V–Z: 12:40 PM
We understand that work schedules and lunch breaks may not always allow you to arrive during your suggested time. These times are simply intended to help traffic flow more efficiently both in the school parking lot and on the streets in Calhoun.
Vehicles should enter the school parking lot using the 7th Street entrance. Please line up two vehicles wide in the parking lot so we can keep as many vehicles as possible off surrounding roads.
When you reach the main entrance (side door) of the school, a staff member will scan your QR code. You will then proceed to the front entrance (cafeteria entrance), where food will be loaded into your vehicle.
For safety and efficiency, we ask that everyone remain in their vehicles unless you prefer to load your own food items into your vehicle.
