The Mayor, City Council and Recreation Department unveiled the Ray M. Denmon Playground Dedication plaque this week. We are excited to recognize Mr. Denmon's 22 years of service on the City Council and his lifelong dedication to the Calhoun community!

The City of Calhoun is sad to report that we will be removing one of the beautiful oak trees in Downtown City Park.

The tree lost a significant branch last night, revealing extensive core damage to the trunk. Unfortunately, because of the condition of the tree and the safety concerns it presents, removal is necessary.

We hate to lose this mature tree in our park. These trees provide shade and character and have been enjoyed by generations of Calhoun residents and visitors.

As we have done in the past, we will look for opportunities to replant whenever possible to help preserve the beauty, shade, and character of Downtown City Park for future generations.
