Oh boy, do we have a dandy for you today! This is Hal, who has a bobtail and appears to be a border collie mix. With that chocolate brown coat, he’s all kinds of handsome! He’s also lively. Hal is energetic, athletic and playful. Only 4 months old, Mr. Busy Boy is brimming with puppyness. He’s also loaded with potential. Hal is smart and puts 100% into whatever he’s doing. He’ll learn fast and well in school, and we’re excited to see what he can do. So much potential. And just think, he was found alone on the side of the road. No home, and no one to claimed him. Hal weighs 30 pounds now and will be a large dog. And a fun, sweet, and friendly one. Keep your eye on this boy. He’s going to be something really special!

Thank you to everyone who completed our CPR/First Aid training this past month at the Benny Magness Unit!

Workplace safety is a shared responsibility, and our team is now certified and equipped with life-saving skills. Because of your participation, our facility is officially a safer place for our coworkers, visitors, and inmates.

A special shout-out to Sgt. Jeremy Cottrell and Sgt. Justin Peterman for guiding staff through the hands-on chest compressions and AED tutorials.

Okay, hang with me because it’s gonna take a sec to explain Missy. She was here 2 or 3 years ago, and was taught hand signals because she’s deaf. She’s very good at them. In fact, she won’t eat until she first gets the sit down signal. Missy was adopted, but then decided she’d rather live with the neighbors and wouldn’t stay home. So her owners let the neighbors have her. And there she stayed. Until they could no longer care for her or their 50 other animals. Missy is taken back to the shelter, and she’s here now.

She’s getting her lessons recharged and is acing everything. That’s no surprise, Missy is sweet, affectionate, and incredibly smart. She loves all people but doesn’t need to be around small children because she’s bouncy and accidentally knocks them down. Missy loves to play and show off what she’s learned in school. Her deafness doesn’t bother her a bit. Missy is weighs 55 pounds, is 6 years old, but you’ll swear she’s only 2. This girl is something special and needs an understanding, sweet home. And just in case you haven’t noticed, Missy is adorable.
