One of the most meaningful traditions of a GFWC administration is the opportunity to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.

During the Board of Directors Meeting, International President Wendy Carriker and Director of Junior Clubs Trina Behbahani participated in this solemn ceremony, honoring the unidentified service members whose sacrifice represents the courage and dedication of all who have served our nation.

The Eureka Woman’s Club shares:
EWC presented its ninth Gift of Appreciation celebrating our 125th year. Claista LaBolle of Redwood Youth Business Alliance accepting at our business meeting on 9/2/26. All Gift of Appreciation recipients were nominated by Club members. 💚

🚗🖌️ Before painted centerlines became ordinary, California motorists traveled narrow roads without a clear boundary separating opposing traffic.

Dr. June McCarroll spent years promoting a simple safety measure: paint a line down the road so every driver could see where their side ended. With support from women’s clubs across California, her campaign helped persuade the California Highway Commission to adopt highway centerlines in 1924. (Legislative Information California)

The idea was inexpensive, highly visible, and capable of changing driver behavior without rebuilding the road. Which mattered more—the original insight or the years of organizing required to make officials adopt it?

The GFWC Woman’s Club of Cypress shares:

The GFWC Woman's Club of Cypress (Gfwc Cypress) helped pay for the new privacy screen at Lexington Jr High School. These are at schools not just for decoration.They help protect students from unapproved photographers and videographers who film students during school hours. Notice as you drive through communities how many schools have had to add these to their campus.

The Hemet Woman’s Club shares:
Our members really had a meaningful and enjoyable visit to Michelles' Place. Donations of wigs and personal items were very appreciated by the Michelle's Place team and our members left with heartfelt stories and respect for this wonderful organization.

💗 WOMAN’S CLUB OF VISTA GFWC

When we say Living the Volunteer Spirit, the Woman’s Club of Vista shows us exactly what that looks like.

These women don’t just support their community — they roll up their sleeves and get to work.

🍼 Through Covers of Love, members make fleece baby blankets and crocheted hats for new mothers receiving newborn care through Vista Community Clinic.

📚 Bubbles & Books puts children’s books in English and Spanish into local laundromats, making reading accessible in an unexpected place.

🥫 Members volunteer with the North County Food Bank, sorting and packing food, including food for children’s weekend backpacks.

🇺🇸 They support Foundation for Women Warriors, helping women veterans and their children with needed baby supplies and hands-on service.

🏠 With Operation HOPE North County, members serve meals and help families and individuals working toward stability after homelessness.

🐕 They support K9 Guardians and participate in community projects benefiting children and families.

🌲 Through Penny Pines, they help restore forests devastated by wildfires.

🌺 Members volunteer at Alta Vista Botanical Gardens, supporting conservation and environmental education.

💜 They raise awareness about domestic violence and human trafficking and stand with those who need a voice.

🎓 And they invest in the future by providing scholarships to students from six Vista-area high schools.

This is community service.

It isn’t one project. It isn’t one donation. It is women looking around their community, discovering where they are needed and saying:

“We can help.”
