🚨 FOUND DOG 🚨

This dog was found along Malden Road, in front of California Area High School. The dog is wearing a army green collar and a seresto collar.

If this is your dog, or if you know the owner, please contact Washington County 911 to get ahold of California’s animal control officer.

Just a friendly reminder that California Area School District and other neighboring school districts around Western Pennsylvania will be retuning to school in the coming days! Please be cautious when you see a school bus loading in the morning or unloading in the afternoon. Our officers will be out watching and citing when necessary.

Remember

• Yellow flashing lights on the bus indicates the bus is getting ready to stop and load or unload. Slow down and get ready to stop.
• Red flashing lights and a stop signal arm indicates that the bus has stopped and children are getting on or off. You must stop your vehicle at least 10 feet before reaching the school bus. You may not proceed until the flashing red signal lights are no long activated.

The California Borough Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in identifying the pictured subjects in regards to retail theft. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the California Borough Police Department or 911.

It has once again been brought to our attention that many residents of the county are being contact by someone and being told that the person is a deputy with our office. This person is stating that you have a warrant, unpaid tickets/fines, and other court related matters. They have personal information, and information that would seem convincing.

THIS IS A SCAM. No Deputies from our office will call you on the phone to address any of these matters. DO NOT give these callers any financial information or any other personal information they are seeking.

We are aware of these calls and need the help of the public to spread awareness and be aware that these are SCAM CALLS. Please share!

As a reminder from the California Police Department, along with our local fire and EMS agencies, we’ve noticed an increasing number of homes throughout California Borough, Coal Center Borough, and Long Branch Borough that do not have clearly visible house numbers. In many cases, the numbers have fallen off, faded, or are blocked by bushes, decorations, or other obstructions.

Please take a few minutes to make sure your house numbers are clearly visible from the roadway. In an emergency, every second counts, and visible address numbers help police officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel locate your home as quickly as possible.

If this applies to your residence or rental property, please correct the issue as soon as possible. Your attention to this small detail could make a big difference when time matters most.
