๐Ÿš’ Friday Night Response โ€“ Chimney Fire Contained

Friday evening (4/10/26), Calistoga Fire Department crews responded to a residential chimney fire. Thanks to a quick response and coordinated efforts, the fire was contained to the chimney and fully extinguished.

We were assisted on scene by Napa County Fire Department through our mutual aid systemโ€”thank you for your support and teamwork.

โœ… No injuries were reported
๐Ÿก The residents were able to remain in their home

๐Ÿ”ฅ Chimney Fire Safety Reminder:
Chimney fires often start due to a buildup of creosote inside the flue. To help prevent them:
โ€ข Have your chimney inspected and cleaned annually
โ€ข Burn only seasoned (dry) wood - no garbage
โ€ข Avoid overloading your fireplace
โ€ข Install and maintain smoke and carbon monoxide alarms

If you hear what has been described a sounding like a vacuum to a freight train, loud cracking or popping from your chimney, or notice fire from the top of your chimney, call 911 immediately.

Stay safe, Calistoga!

**Smoke and Traffic Advisory**

On October 24, 2025, Sonoma Land Trust and CAL FIRE will be conducting prescribed burning near Calistoga. This collaborative initiative is part of a wider community effort to increase fire resiliency throughout the region.

The project includes up to 19 acres at Laufenburg Ranch Preserve on Friday, October 24, 2025. The prescribed burn will take place approximately 4 miles north of Calistoga on ridges near the Sonoma/Napa County line in Knights Valley. Smoke may be visible from Calistoga as well as Highway 128. The prescribed burn may start as early as 9:00am and conclude around 5:00pm. The unit may continue to produce a lesser amount of smoke in the days following burning operations. The burn area will be monitored by fire personnel.

If you see smoke from these burns, please refrain from calling 911.

โœ… **Another Napa County CERT Academy Complete!**

Congratulations to the newest graduates of the Napa County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Academy held here in Calistoga!

This session brought together neighbors from across the county, with 13 of the participants proudly representing Calistoga.

CERT training empowers community members with hands-on skills in disaster preparedness, first aid, fire safety, search and rescue, and team organization. These graduates are now better equipped to support their families, neighborhoods, and the community during emergencies.

A big thank you to the instructors, volunteers, and everyone else who made this academy possibleโ€”and to the graduates for stepping up to serve. ๐Ÿ‘

Welcome to the CERT family! ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŸข
