Happy Memorial Day from all of us at Station 5. Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends, let us also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day and remember those who made our freedom possible. We are forever grateful to the heroes who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

๐ŸšจFrom all of us at Station 5, we extend our deepest gratitude to First Baptist Church of Callahan for their incredibly generous $8,000 donation, Callahan Masonic Lodge 32 for their $1,000 donation, and Klynt Farmer for his $1,000 contribution made through the Community Stewards of Yulee.

Because of your support and generosity, both the Callahan and Hilliard Volunteer Fire Departments were able to purchase much-needed wildland firefighting gear to help protect our firefighters as they serve our communities during wildfire season.

Knowing our communities stand behind us through support, prayers, and generosity, reminds us just how special small-town communities truly are.

Thank you for supporting your local volunteer firefighters and helping us continue protecting the communities we are proud to serve. ๐Ÿš’

Last Thursday, we came together to lay Firefighter James "Kevin" Crews to rest.

We want to sincerely thank every department, agency, and individual who stood with us. From the honor guard and escorts to dispatchers and those who helped behind the scenes-your support, coordination, and presence meant more than we can put into words.

Seeing so many come together was a powerful reminder of the bond shared across the fire service. In a time like this, that unity does not go unnoticed.

We are truly thankful to everyone who helped ensure Kevin received the tribute he deserved.

Rest easy, Kevin. We've got it from here.

Today, our fairgrounds became a place of honor. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

With the help of friends and community members, a 12x18 flag was raised in preparation for honoring Kevin Crews, a dedicated member of the Hilliard Volunteer Fire Department who we lost last week.

Kevin lived a life of service โ€” to his community, his department, and the people around him. His impact reaches far beyond the uniform he wore.

At the Northeast Florida Fairgrounds, we are proud to stand alongside our community in remembering and honoring a life that meant so much to so many.

We continue to lift up the Crews family, HVFD, and all who knew and loved him.

Never forgotten. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿš’
