Happy Father’s Day from Callisburg Volunteer Fire Department!

Today we celebrate the fathers who show up every day — for their families, their kids, and sometimes at 2 a.m. when the tones drop.

To the dads across our district: Thank you for the quiet strength, the life lessons, and the occasional dad joke we all pretend to hate. You’re building the next generation right here in rural Cooke County — one “because I said so” at a time.

A special thank you to the firefighter fathers on our team. You balance family life with answering the call — often leaving your own kids to go protect someone else’s. Your children are watching, and they’re learning that real heroes don’t always wear capes… sometimes they wear turnout gear and still make it home for bedtime (most nights).

To every father spending today making memories with your family: Enjoy the day. Whether you’re manning the grill, chasing kids, or finally getting to sit down for five minutes — you’ve earned it. You are the backbone of our homes and our community.

Today while our crew was handling station duties, a neighbor of the station walked up to the bay needing help with his truck stuck in the mud. He asked if we could help push it out — and of course, we said yes.

Captain/EMT Fred Thompson, Firefighter/EMT Eli Rolison, and Junior Firefighter Weston Shoemaker didn’t hesitate. They grabbed shovels, got down in the mud, and started digging out the tires. Another good neighbor showed up with some extra-long tow straps, and together they worked until the truck was free and rolling again.

This is what volunteer firefighting looks like in our community — showing up for the big calls and the everyday ones too. We’re proud of Fred, Eli, and Weston for representing Callisburg VFD with that “of course we’ll help” attitude.

Big thanks to the neighbor with the tow straps for pitching in as well. Y’all make this place special.

🚨 Callisburg FD Weather Update & Fleet Upgrades 🚨

Well, folks, with the amount of rain we’ve received lately, we are pretty sure Callisburg is officially classified as a coastal town. 🌧️🌊

Since our usual response routes are looking a lot more like the Red River, your Callisburg Fire Department has had to make a few minor adaptations to the fleet so we can keep answering the call.

We’d like to officially introduce the newest commissioned vessel in our lineup: Pontoon-Pumper 115! 🚒⚓

She doesn't need roads, she drafts her own water straight from the street, and she comes fully equipped with lights, sirens, and a complimentary wakeboard. We’re trading in our bunker gear for life jackets and flippers until things dry out.

🛑 A SERIOUS REMINDER: TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN! 🛑

Jokes about our new naval fleet aside, the high water out there is incredibly dangerous. Please be smart on the roads today:

- Never drive through flooded roadways. It only takes 12 inches of rushing water to carry away most cars, and just 2 feet to carry away SUVs and trucks.

-Do not bypass barricades. They are there to protect you. The road underneath the water may be completely washed out.

-If you can't see the road, don't risk it.

Stay safe, stay dry, and if you need us, just know we are ready to float your way! 🇺🇸🛥️🚒
