Hey folks… are these your future Formula 1 stars? 😆 This happened yesterday around 4 PM when our parking lot got turned into a full-on drift school.

If these are your kids, please send us a PM or give the station a call (voicemail is fine). We promise we’re not mad… just concerned for our poor parking lot’s emotional well-being.

We totally get it — kids being kids — but this is becoming a regular episode of “Pimp My Parking Lot.” We’re trying to keep the station looking respectable, not like the local demolition derby arena.

P.S. If anyone wants to donate a concrete apron, we will name our next pothole after you. Serious offers only.

Yesterday our crews responded to a grass and hay fire. A local fire photographer took some awesome photos of our guys.

Final update: All units are clear, the hay will continue to burn in a controlled manner. Expect smoke in the area.

Update: Firefighters arrived on scene to find approximately 10 round bales on fire with other smaller fires in the ditch. Crews remain on scene.

Callisburg Brush 113 and Brush 112 are currently responding to a grass and hay fire near the intersection of FM 2896 and County Road 119.

Please avoid the area to allow emergency responders clear access. Heavy smoke is expected in the vicinity.

Thank you for giving our firefighters the space they need to work safely.

Excited to share the good news with you all - Cooke County has been awarded a new Storm Shelter/Safe Room Rebate Grant from FEMA that will be open to all homeowners of Cooke County. The Commissioners Court has approved and signed the award letter today which means it will not be long before our program is available. We ask for patience as we put the finishing touches on our program and we hope to have this ready for launch in the first week of June. Stay tuned for updates and we will ensure that the program launch is communicated across every possible outlet.

In the meantime, this is a good time for those interested in participating in this program to start familiarizing themselves with the eligibility requirements and processes of the program. Our neighbors in Grayson County Emergency Management have already launched their program and you can find many of the same materials on the eligibility requirements as we will have. Go to https://www.co.grayson.tx.us/page/oem.saferoomprogram to get a good idea of what this program will look like and how it will work (but PLEASE DO NOT apply for their program or bother their people over it - their program is only for Grayson County citizens).

Stay tuned and more to follow soon.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day 2026 🇺🇸

Today, the Callisburg Volunteer Fire Department pauses to honor the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation.

Your courage, service, and selflessness built the freedoms we cherish every single day — the same freedoms that allow us to serve our community here in Northeastern Cooke County as your all-volunteer fire department.

We remember the fallen. We give thanks to their families. And we carry forward their legacy by continuing to protect and serve the 136 square miles we proudly call home.

To all Gold Star families, veterans, and active duty service members — thank you.

May we never forget.

🎉 Scholarship Winner Announcement 🎉

Callisburg Volunteer Fire Department is proud to announce the recipient of our 2026 $1,000 Scholarship!

Congratulations to Kaylynn Wi******er, a senior at Callisburg High School who lives in the Walnut Bend area of our fire district. Kaylynn will be pursuing a career in nursing this fall.

Today at Senior Sunday, Captain Fred Thompson and Captain/Vice President Jimmy McMains had the honor of presenting Kaylynn with her scholarship.

We are thrilled to support such a driven and community-oriented student as she begins her journey in nursing. Investing in our local youth is just one of the ways we serve our district!

A huge thank you to everyone who applied and to our community for your continued support of the Callisburg VFD.

Wishing Kaylynn nothing but success as she chases her dreams! 💉🩺

Since we have had some nice weather and are likely to over the weekend, now is a great time to go over the State Outdoor Burn Rules again. Remember that, just because there is no burn ban in effect, there are still State regulations that govern outdoor burning regardless. Penalties for violating these State Rules can carry very stiff penalties, including expensive fines and even criminal charges for severe violations. Some important points are as follows:

-All outdoor burns must be conducted from one hour after sunrise to one hour before sunset (no burning in the dark!).
-All fires must be at least 300ft away from any inhabited structures and must not blow smoke across roadways.
-NO burning on days when wind gusts reach 23mph or higher!
-Ensure that you are not burning any illegal or unsafe materials (i.e. toxic substances, rubber, plastics, fiberglass, aerosols, building materials, treated lumber, etc.).
-Last, but not least, NEVER leave a burn pile unattended!

If you have plans for burning, make sure you first call our non-emergency County Dispatch line (940-665-3237/3238) and inform them of your location and approximate time you will be conducting your burn. This way if anyone calls in to report the smoke, our dispatchers will already be aware and can inform the local fire departments before they respond.

Finally, be a good neighbor. None of us live in a vacuum and always make sure that what you are doing - even if it is on your own property - isn't negatively affecting those around you. Don't be *that guy/girl* ... selfish and unsafe behavior won't just damage your relationship with your neighbors, but if they violate regulations and laws, it could end up costing you dearly. Stay safe out there.
