Last month, communities throughout the south suburbs were hit hard by devastating winds and tornadoes, leaving many families with significant damage to their homes, trees, and property.

In true Lions spirit, our local Lions Clubs quickly mobilized to help. With the generous support of a grant from the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), Lions came together to assemble 400 Emergency Response Buckets filled with essential supplies to help families with cleanup and recovery following the storms.

Thank you to all of the Lions who gave their time and energy to make this project possible. This is what being “Rooted in Service” is all about—Lions helping neighbors when they need us most.

A very special thank you to Ace Hardware for helping us order and secure all of the supplies needed to fill these 400 buckets. Your support played an important role in making this effort a success.

Free storm relief buckets will be available for Lansing residents this Saturday.

Lions Clubs International Foundation and Lions District 1-A will distribute approximately 100 emergency cleaning supply buckets to Lansing residents impacted by the August 11 tornado.

Distribution begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 29, at the Ford Hangar, 3239 Glenwood Lansing Road.

PLEASE NOTE: A valid 2026 Lansing Village vehicle sticker is required to receive a bucket. Vehicles will be checked for valid stickers before entering the distribution area.

Buckets are free and available while supplies last. Approximately 100 buckets will be available.

We’re still smiling after a wonderful Installation Dinner. What a fun and memorable night for our club! A heartfelt thank you to District Governor Richard Moy for installing our incoming President, Lion Robert Hubbird, and our board members. We’re excited for the year ahead and all we’ll accomplish together.

We were also proud to recognize Lion Steve Drew as Lion of the Year and honor Lion Bob Lake with the Melvin Jones Fellowship; both so well deserved!

Last night was truly a beautiful celebration of service, dedication, and community at the Calumet City Lions Club Awards Night. We were honored to recognize our Firefighter and Police Officer of the Year, Educators of the Year, outstanding scholarship recipients, and our Community Service Award honorees. Each individual represents the very best of Calumet City through their hard work, compassion, leadership, and commitment to making a difference.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our honorees, families, guests, supporters, and Lions Club members who helped make the evening so special. Nights like these remind us how important it is to come together as a community; to celebrate one another, support our future leaders, and honor those who serve others every day.

The Calumet City Lions Club is proud to continue our mission of service and strengthening the bonds within our community. We love bringing people together and recognizing the incredible individuals who help make Calumet City such a special place to call home.
