It’s Back ‼️ We are proud to announce that the 2nd Annual South Suburban Vegan Festival is returning to Calumet Park; and this time for 2 days back-to-back! To be hosted on Saturday, March 26 - Sunday, March 27th. 11am - 7pm on both days.

Created & organized by renowned vegan chef, the incredible Ale'jandro Flenorl who organized the 1st event here back in Nov. 2019. An event which clocked over 500+ people throughout the day 😮

Chef’s vision in presenting this, is to encourage everyone to come out and experience wholistic life options, healthy eating & alternative lifestyle choices that will both nourish your body and feed your soul. 🥗💚

TGIF Residents! We’re stopping by to inform to you all that we’re making incredible progress on the demolition of the former Seven Holy Founders campus (Rectory, Convent, School, and Garage), in preparation of developing our landmark Village Green park project. Major thanks and recognition to the Cook County Sheriff’s Dept. (R.E.N.E.W. Team) for their phenomenal work. Cook County Sheriff's Office (Official)

This park project, launched by Mayor Denson, will be known as the “Village Green;” sitting at the center of our Village, spanning Ada St. from 124th – 125th St.

This extraordinary undertaking will greatly improve the quality of life in our Village, by emphasizing what’s best in our community; the joy of our youth, the amenities a young family will appreciate, and areas of peace and serenity for our seniors.

As always, we acknowledge and respect what has come before, and do so knowing that we are building upon consecrated ground. In that same spirit, we move forward by honoring the former Catholic mission by dedicating this park to the service of uplifting every man, woman, and child. A charge that is both sacred and worth doing.

Mayor Denson and the Parks & Recreation Dept. will ensure this park comes to fruition with majority grant funding sources.
Have a great weekend!

On a day where evil rose, the best of America responded. Be they 1st responders who ran in getting others to safety, to the everyday citizens who stepped up to save others...in every conceivable way; they became heroes. Though 20 years has passed since September 11, 2001, we must never forget. May all who lost their lives have rest and their memories be a blessing.

Great News! the CodeRed that went out informed the residents that the Village now has ownership of the former Ultra Foods property. After years of negotiations, we now have the opportunity to work on securing the grocery store our community deserves!

As of now, THREE major grocers are highly interested. Please lend your support to Mayor Denson and our Village Board, who continue to fight for you, by ending this food desert and ensuring economic prosperity for residents now and generations to come!

As a Village, we stand in honor to both recognize and congratulate one of our own, Damari Reed, to win a State title for Wrestling at Shepard High School. Since his early childhood days, Mr. Reed began working and perfecting his craft, all leading up to this moment. Amazing work, young man!

Reed wins state championship
Congratulations to Shepard junior Damari Reed on winning the Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association state championship at 152 pounds. Coach Scott Richardson notes that Damari became the first Shepard state champion since 1984!

Good Morning Residents!
A message from our Mayor and the Police Dept:

April is "National Distracted Driving Awareness Month," and the Calumet Park Police Department, through the Illinois Department of Transportation Distracted Driving Grant, will be conducting enforcement of the distracted driving laws throughout the month.

Motorists will see an increase in patrol and traffic stops targeting these laws.

So remember to use hands-free and Bluetooth devices or pull over to a SAFE location to take that important phone call or text message.

"Stay alive, don't text and drive!”

After two, productive and consequential years, our Village now has a brand-new, Comprehensive Plan for the years 2020 thru 2030. This plan focuses on economic development, the future of housing, and quality of life to name a few. At the bottom is the link to view and download!

Mayor Denson and the Board would like to express their profound gratitude to Ms. Leslie Roth of RATIO Architects and Mr. Patrick Day of Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning for gathering Village participation and input; as you, our great residents, gave your ideas and comments throughout this entire process, all of which led to this moment.

Once more, we say thank you. Thank you Calumet Park residents, stakeholders, committed partners from our seniors to our youth, and to everyone who had a hand in the development of this document.

It is now not only a living document but a covenant, a covenant for us now and for our future, and the promise that it holds.

Have you filled out your Census?
What the actual heck is wrong with people setting off fireworks in the village? Three HUGE explosions on 127th. and Racine. My dogs are losing their minds and Juneteenth is over and the 4th of July is a bit off. Blue Island is issuing $750 fines. Might be a good idea here.
What the heck happened? Heavy traffic down Racine.
