The Mission of the Camano Center is to provide opportunities that support healthy aging, independence, and well-being for older adults in our community. Programs include:
Nutrition: hot meals are prepared by Island Senior Resources (ISR) and Camano Center Catering at the Center served Monday-Wednesday-Friday each week in both a congregate setting and to Meals-on-Wheels clients. CSSA also partner
s with ISR to provide the dietary supplement Ensure on a donation basis. Aging & Disability Resources and Assistance/Case Management: helps link people over 60 years old with the services and resources they need to stay independent. Volunteer Transportation Program: dedicated volunteers provide free transportation to medical appointments for older adults who can no longer drive or need a driver for surgery. Old Friends Club: respite care provided for those caring for loved ones living with dementia or Alzheimer's. Aging Mastery Program: a 10 week program developed by the National Council on Aging that empowers participants to take key steps to improve well-being, add stability, and strengthen ties to community. CSSA also provides an informative monthly newsletter, a foot clinic, loans of medical equipment, entertainment, social activities, daily coffee, and a variety of other groups and programs. The Center ardently strives to carry out it’s mission to residents of Camano Island and the surrounding communities. Many volunteers, including an all volunteer Board of Directors, and a great crew of dedicated and talented staff contribute to the success of the Camano Center.
