On Thursday June 19th we commemorate Juneteenth, a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing fight for justice.
On June 19, 1865—two years after the Emancipation Proclamation—enslaved people in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free. This day reminds us that liberation is not just a moment in history, but a commitment to equity and truth.

Congratulations to Dr. Sohui Lee on her promotion to Professor at the Writing & Multiliteracy Center!
Since joining CSUCI in 2015 as the WMC’s first Assistant Professor and Faculty Director, she’s led incredible growth:
✍️ Expanded tutoring to include oral + multimedia assignments
🎥 Built a HyFlex classroom + studio for student projects
🎓 Added support for graduate and asynchronous learners
💡 Secured grants for programs like Plot-A-Thon
🤝 And is now partnering with the Library on AI literacy initiatives!

Our Children’s section is home to the comfiest seating in the library—perfect for readers of all ages.
