VR Activity Club 9 will be offered Thursdays, June 25-July 16, 10-11:15 a.m.

June 25: Summer Vacation - Summer is finally here, so let's celebrate by going on a dream vacation. We'll start by virtually touring the island of Crete, spend a day at a resort and relax in Northern California's Point Lobos, immersing ourselves in the calming sights and sounds of waves and gentle breezes. Our activity will be an immersive video that will make us feel as if we are sailing the Mediterranean. We also will go on a Toucan Exploration.

July 2: Scenic Summer Wonders & Safari - Join us for a virtual journey through breathtaking Oregon trails, savor a sunrise in Patagonia, and explore beautiful summer-themed destinations . On our safari, we'll embark on a virtual tour of Galapagos Islands and the Grey Glacier. We'll conclude with a relaxing session of painting using VR!

July 9: Coastlines & Culture - Discover the best of Malta, Monaco, Cannes and Nice in a spectacular virtual journey, blending history, luxury, and coastal beauty for an unforgettable experience. Our activity will be capturing the vibrant colors and tranquil beauty of coastal scenes using the VR application Paint.

July 16: Wonderful Waterfalls & Broadway Magic - Explore magnificent waterfalls around the world virtually, including a double waterfall vista. We'll also participate in a peaceful meditation behind a waterfall and explore waterfalls around the world. Our activity will be a nature reflection as we spend time in nature virtually and sharing our experiences.

Join us for an overview of Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, LinkedIn, SnapChat and TikTok during our Social Media Basics two-part class. We'll discuss why hashtags are important on some social networking sites, how to search for specific content and connect with people, businesses and organizations. Bring your smartphone or laptop for hands-on learning. Classes will be held Monday, June 29, and Tuesday, June 30, 2-3:15 p.m. Cost: $10 (non-District residents add $4). There are just a few more FREE Pedaling the Planet classes left. See what it's like to cycle over the Golden Gate Bridge, other well-known spots, as well as trails and forests in our Pedaling the Planet class. We have openings June 12, 15, 17, 18, 26 and 30. Join us for Adventures in Virtual Reality - Ocean Rift - as we explore the ocean, and learn about and interact with whales, dolphins, sea turtles, sharks and other sea creatures. Join us for Bingocize, a fun and interactive program combining education with exercise and social engagement. Methods taught in this course focus on health education, such as nutrition and fall prevention, knowledge of fall risks, ways to reduce falls, health activation, and aspects of cognition. The exercise component focuses on improving functional performance for upper and lower body strength, balance and range of motion. Camarillo Health Care District was among dozens of exhibitors on Saturday at the eighth annual Hope Walk organized by the Cancer Support Community, Valley/Ventura/Santa Barbara. The event, held on the campus of California Lutheran University at the William Rolland Stadium in Thousand Oaks, featured music, health and wellness booths, snacks and a KidZone as participants walked in support of the cause and in memory of loved ones lost to cancer. Our CEO was among the walkers and the first to cross the finish line. The event was a great opportunity to reach more people in Ventura County and invite them to take our classes, and learn more about our services and programs.

The Camarillo Health Care District offers SHARE, a program for people experiencing early- to mid-stage dementia, and their caregivers. A trained health coach engages in discussions about symptoms, communication and healthy activities, while helping clients plan for the future, keeping the client’s own values and preferences in mind for their life as the disease progresses.
