You don't have to wear a uniform to serve those who served us. 🇺🇸 At Gold Coast Veterans Foundation, our volunteers are an essential part of the mission.

Our volunteers help:
🚗 Drive veterans to medical appointments and grocery stores
🥫 Deliver groceries to homebound veterans
🤝 Assist veterans in our office
📞 Answer phones and provide support

💙 Sometimes, the right piece of equipment can make all the difference. 🇺🇸

When a social worker at Oxnard Family Circle Adult Day Health Care Center reached out about Army veteran Mitch, she shared that his wheelchair was worn out and becoming increasingly difficult for him to use.

Our team had several wheelchairs with different issues, so we combined the best components to create one fully functioning wheelchair. We added a seat cushion and delivered it directly to Mitch.

Mitch arrived in his old wheelchair with a taped armrest and sagging seat. After transferring into the new chair, he immediately noticed the difference. Getting in and out was easier, and he told us it “better suited his needs.”

At GCVF, we believe supporting veterans means finding solutions that meet their individual needs and help them maintain their independence.

Two veterans. Decades of stories. One unforgettable day!

GCVF was honored to see our Korean War veteran clients Pete and Darrell attend the Wings Over Camarillo Airshow Veterans Hangar. Pete served in the U.S. Navy as a plane captain aboard the USS Valley Forge (CV-45) off the coast of Korea, while Darrell served in the U.S. Air Force.

During the event, they had the opportunity to meet air show visitors, share stories from their military service, and show photos and cruise books from their time in uniform. They also enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and a golf cart tour of the aircraft on display.

We're grateful to Wings Over Camarillo for giving our veterans the opportunity to connect with the community and share their experiences. Their stories are living history, and we're honored to celebrate them.

Community support makes our mission possible!

A heartfelt thank you to Citizens Business Bank for a generous community grant supporting Gold Coast Veterans Foundation and our mission to serve local veterans.

The grant was presented by Jess Tirado, CBB Community Development Officer, along with Kimberly Tharpe and Brad Whetten, to our Executive Director, Beckie Cramer.

When a case worker noticed that Nga had been repeatedly falling since moving into her new affordable housing community in Camarillo, she reached out to GCVF for help.

Nga is the daughter of a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War. Her family came to the United States as refugees, and we were honored to be there when she needed support. Within a week, our team secured a mobility scooter, carefully checked and tested it, added a new basket, and delivered it directly to Nga. After a quick lesson on the controls and charging, Nga was soon confidently navigating her new scooter around her community! We're grateful to the community partners who help connect veterans and their families with the support they need.

U.S. Navy veteran Jerry had been living in his Ventura apartment for a year and a half when he reached out to GCVF for a few pieces of furniture to make his new place feel more like home.

At the same time, a generous community member donated furniture that had belonged to his late mother. A pair of chairs and a small dresser were exactly what Jerry needed. Our volunteer Spencer and team member Charles delivered the furniture to Jerry, but the story didn't end there. Because the chairs didn't match, Jerry gave one to his fellow veteran Patrick, who had just moved into the apartment downstairs.

One donation. Two veterans supported. One beautiful example of veterans helping veterans. Thank you to the donor who shared their family's furniture and to Jerry for paying that generosity forward.

🏠 Helping a veteran move into permanent housing.
💙 Listening when someone needs support.
🤝 Advocating when navigating the next step feels overwhelming.
🇺🇸 Serving every veteran with compassion, dignity, and respect.

One ride can make a world of difference for a veteran. Gold Coast Veterans Foundation is looking for compassionate Transportation Assistance volunteers to provide door-to-door rides for local veterans traveling to medical appointments, dental visits, and job interviews.

For veterans with mobility challenges, reliable transportation can mean getting to essential care, accessing services, or pursuing a new job opportunity.
