In 1976, two local physicians created the "Medical Advisory Board" in order to provide medical oversight to the Sheriff's Department Air Unit during airborne Search and Rescue operations. Over the years, this small unit has grown into the Search and Rescue (SAR) Medical Team, which provides year round advanced life support (ALS) services for the entire County of Ventura. The Medical Team is compri

sed of Paramedics, Nurses and Doctors who volunteer their time 365 days a year, including weekends, holidays and often nights. If you or a loved one becomes injured while hiking in the local mountains, or while recreating on a bicycle, motorcycle or ATV, or if you have an accident on a rural road far away from the nearest hospital, the skilled professionals that come to rescue you include a SAR Medical Team member and a Sheriff's Air Unit crew member.
