Join the Camas-Washougal Fire Department and East County Fire & Rescue, Friday, Sept. 11, 2026 @ 7:15 a.m., for the 25th anniversary memorial ceremony to commemorate the emergency responders who lost their lives on 9/11. The event will take place in front of the Camas Public Library downtown. The ceremony will commence at 7:28, but the public should arrive at 7:15.

Please note, there will be no garbage collection tomorrow, Monday, Sept. 7, in honor of Labor Day. Residents that have Monday garbage collection will be scheduled for pick-up, Tuesday, Sept. 8, along with the regular Tuesday pick-up.

Waste Connection customers should refer to www.wcnorthwest.com for their recycling and yard debris collection holiday schedule. In addition, some Camas residents have garbage collection through Waste Connections. For further information, refer to Waste Connections’ website www.wcnorthwest.com

Officials with the City of Camas Public Works department have announced that the annual drawdown of Lacamas Lake and Round Lake has been rescheduled for a start date of Sept. 21.

Beginning at 8 a.m., Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, the City will reduce the total level of the lakes by approximately six feet, in order to achieve the level needed to facilitate dam inspections and make repairs. The City will also be replacing parts of the dam in order to update and improve it, which is why more time is required. The Camas City Council is considering placing a change in the form of government on the ballot for a future election, and we want to hear from you.
