IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR LODGE HILL RESIDENTS: PLANNED WATER SERVICE INTERRUPTION FOLLOWED BY PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER NOTICE EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 13, 2026

The Cambria Community Services District (CCSD) will be conducting critical water system work that will require a temporary interruption of water service to customers in the affected Lodge Hill area beginning Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at approximately 8:00 am.

Following restoration of water service, CCSD will issue a Precautionary Boil Water Notice for affected customers as a precaution due to the temporary loss of water pressure during the planned shutdown.

Planned Water Service Interruption: The planned water service interruption is necessary while CCSD replaces aging pressure-reducing equipment located on Ellis Avenue in Cambria. Completing this work requires a full shutdown of the two highest-pressure zones served by the Fiscalini Tank.

Water service will be temporarily shut off beginning at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, and is anticipated to continue until approximately 5:00 p.m. Water service will be restored as soon as the necessary work is completed. The actual restoration time may vary depending on field conditions and the progress of construction.

Precautionary Boil Water Notice: Following restoration of water service, affected customers will be placed under a Precautionary Boil Water Notice.

The temporary loss of water pressure associated with the planned shutdown may allow contaminants to enter the distribution system. As a precaution, customers in the affected area should not drink tap water or use tap water for food preparation unless it has first been boiled, or use commercially bottled water, until CCSD officially lifts the notice.

The Precautionary Boil Water Notice will remain in effect until CCSD determines that the water is safe and provides official notice that the advisory has been lifted. Customers should not assume that the boil water notice has been lifted simply because water service has been restored.

Free sand is available for Cambria residents.

Residents can pick up sand to help prepare for potential flooding and erosion.

📍 Pickup locations:
• 2021 Rodeo Grounds Road
• Lampton Park — corner of Lampton and Windsor

Please bring your own shovel and containers or bags. Tractors are not permitted at District sand sites.

Sandbags are not available at the Cambria Fire Department, but can be purchased at local hardware stores.

9/22/2026: CCSD Water Department Performing Main Leak Repair on Trenton Avenue

The CCSD Water Department is performing a water main leak repair in the 2700 block of Trenton Avenue. Three customer services will be impacted during the repair. Traffic control measures are in place, so please drive slowly through the construction zone and be aware of personnel working in the area.

1. Follow Traffic Signs and Directions: Pay attention to and follow all traffic control signs and signals in the area.
2. Watch for Workers: Be vigilant and watch out for our workers who will be on-site. Please slow down and drive carefully near the work zones.

9/16/2026: Water Main Break – 600 Block of Weymouth Street

The CCSD Water Department is on-site in the 600 block of Weymouth Street responding to a water main break. Crews are assessing the issue and mobilizing equipment to begin excavation and repair work.

Water service will be shut off to residents on the 600 block of Weymouth Street during repairs. The outage may extend to additional areas as necessary to complete the repair.

Traffic control measures are in place. Please drive slowly through the construction zone and use caution around crews and equipment working in the area.

9/10/2026 Letter from the General Manager

Dear Cambrians,

After more than a decade of studies, environmental review, engineering refinement, regulatory coordination, and sustained commitment, the California Coastal Commission approved the Coastal Development Permit for the Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) on September 9, 2026. The WRF had previously been authorized to operate on an emergency basis under the Emergency Coastal Development Permit (ZON2013-00589), issued on May 15, 2014.

This is a significant accomplishment for the District and, most importantly, for the staff who have spent the past several years working to move this project forward. When our current team took on this challenge just over three years ago, we inherited one of the most complicated and consequential public works issues in the District’s history. There was no simple roadmap forward. The project required us to work through years of history, address difficult technical and environmental questions, navigate an extensive regulatory process, and establish a clear and responsible path forward.

Over the last three years, District staff worked extensively with the County, California Coastal Commission, other regulatory agencies, consultants, and legal and technical professionals to address the many issues surrounding the project. Staff reviewed thousands of pages of documents, coordinated technical studies and regulatory requirements, responded to questions and comments, attended countless meetings, worked through revisions, and continually addressed new issues as they arose. That work culminated today with the California Coastal Commission's action on the WRF Coastal Development Permit. For a small community and a small public agency, the significance of reaching this point is difficult to overstate.

I am incredibly proud of our staff. A relatively small team took on a project of enormous complexity and remained committed to finding a way forward. They put in countless hours, worked through difficult issues, and continued moving the project ahead even when the path forward was anything but straightforward. I am also grateful to the Board of Directors for its leadership and continued support, and to the consultants and professional partners who provided the specialized expertise necessary to move this project through its technical and regulatory requirements. The District also appreciates those in the Cambria community who participated in the process by attending meetings, reviewing project information, submitting comments, and asking questions. That input was part of the extensive review the project underwent over the past several years.

This does not mean the work is finished. There are still important steps ahead as the District moves into implementation and fulfills the commitments associated with the permit. But it is an important milestone, and one that deserves to be recognized.

To our staff, Board, consultants, regulatory partners, community organizations, and every resident who participated in this process: thank you. This was not easy. Accomplishments of this magnitude rarely are. But Cambria stayed with it, and today we reached the finish line on one of the most difficult chapters of this project.

Now we begin the next chapter.
