Update 2:00 PM: Power seems to be restored and traffic lights are operating again!

𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂 𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐑𝐓 – 𝐏𝐎𝐖𝐄𝐑 𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐀𝐆𝐄 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐎𝐖𝐍

A delivery truck struck a utility pole behind No. 9 Grill (27 W. Main Street), snapping it at the base. The alley behind the restaurant is currently closed off with cones and caution tape. ⚠️🚧

Duke Energy is aware and has crews on scene.
Please use caution when driving through town, as some traffic lights are currently inoperable due to the power outage.

We do not have an estimated time for when power will be restored, but we’ll update as soon as new information becomes available.

𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐥𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭

Today, Adeline Pumphrey, age 19, of Cambridge City, was arrested on a warrant for her arrest for In**st, a Level 5 Felony. This is the second arrest related to an incident that occurred in the 2100 block of Franklin Street in Dublin, Indiana.

Pumphrey was taken into custody after voluntarily turning herself in at the Wayne County Jail.

As with all criminal matters, warrants are based on preliminary charges and may change as the case progresses. All individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

This remains an active investigation, and no further details will be released at this time.

𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐕𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

Today, the Cambridge City Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle in a ditch in the 2100 block of Franklin Street in Dublin. The incident followed a dispute at a nearby residence.

Upon arrival, officers located one vehicle nose down in a ditch and a second vehicle that appeared to have collided with it. Evidence at the scene indicated that multiple failed attempts had been made to remove the 1st vehicle using various improvised methods via the 2nd vehicle.

Officers made contact with Billy Pumphrey, age 49, of Dublin, who was found nearby. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that Billy had operated at least one of the vehicles. Further investigation revealed that Billy had provided alcohol to at least two individuals under the age of 21. Additional details regarding the prior dispute were also uncovered.

As a result of this investigation, Billy was taken into custody for Operating While Intoxicated, with a BAC of .15 or greater, where he was nearly three times the legal limit, two counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor as well as In**st, a Level 5 Felony.

Arrests and criminal charges are mere accusations. Every person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. No further details will be released at this time.

But in case you missed it, people have already parked their cars at the park… yesterday. And yes, it’s tradition 😂

If you see vehicles that appear abandoned at the park, don’t worry, they’re just staking their claim like it’s the Wild West of lawn chairs, pickup trucks and trailers. But don’t worry, we’re keeping an eye on them! 👀🚔

We’ll be there to help with traffic, crowd safety, and explaining to people that the fireworks will happen after the sun goes down. 🎆🎇🧨

As we head into the holiday weekend, here’s a quick reminder of Indiana’s current fireworks laws to help everyone stay safe and legal:

𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐔𝐒𝐄 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐄𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐒?
• June 29 – July 3: 5:00 PM to 2 hours after sunset
• July 4: 10:00 AM to midnight
• July 5 – July 9: 5:00 PM to 2 hours after sunset
• New Year’s Eve: 10:00 AM to 1:00 AM on Jan 1
WHERE CAN YOU USE THEM?
• On your own property
• On someone else’s property with permission
• In a location designated specifically for fireworks by local authorities

WHO CAN USE THEM?
• Only individuals 18 or older may purchase fireworks
• Children can use them only under adult supervision

VIOLATIONS CAN RESULT IN:
• Fines or citations
• Criminal charges if fireworks cause injury or property damage

SAFETY TIPS:
• Keep water nearby
• Don’t relight duds
• Never aim fireworks at people or property
• Keep spectators at a safe distance

Let’s all do our part to celebrate responsibly. Be respectful of neighbors, pets, and veterans who may be sensitive to loud noise. Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

Today at around noon, officers with the Cambridge City Police Department were dispatched to the scene of an ATV accident in front of Lincoln High School, located on East Parkway Drive. Officers from Cambridge City PD and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrived within minutes and began rendering aid.

Initial investigation revealed that the ATV was being operated by a juvenile, with another juvenile as a passenger. Neither was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident. Law enforcement learned that the passenger, for an unknown reason, fell from the ATV and suffered a head injury.

Cambridge City Fire and Reid EMS responded quickly. The injured juvenile was transported by ambulance to Reid Health, escorted by law enforcement. Once stabilized, the juvenile was flown to another hospital for additional care.

This remains an ongoing investigation into the cause and circumstances of the accident.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured juvenile and their family, and we remain hopeful for a positive outcome.

The Cambridge City Police Department would also like to thank the students on scene who stepped in to assist the injured juvenile until first responders arrived. Your quick thinking and compassion made a difference.

Funny saying — but sadly, it’s true every 4th of July.

Fireworks injuries are no joke. 🚑 Every year, people — especially kids — end up in the ER with burns, lost fingers, or worse.

👀 Parents: Keep a close eye on your children.
🍻 Adults: Put the drinks down if you're lighting fireworks.

Let’s end the holiday weekend with all fingers, limbs, and eyesight intact. 🙌🎆👁️

Please contact the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office if you know who either of these subjects are. They are suspected of placing a card skimming machine at Paveys Country Store at St Rd 1 and Veterans Memorial Drive. We beleive the device was located before the suspects could obtain any information from it. If you did use your card at Paveys between 4pm on June 25th and 8am on June 26th you may monitor your accounts, but again we believe the suspects did not obtain any information due to Paveys staff locating the device. If you have any information about the subjects in the picture please contact either Sheriff Zac Jones or Capt. Dan Becker at 765-825-1110.

With temperatures soaring, it’s crucial to recognize the signs of heat-related illnesses and protect yourself and others.

💦 Heat Exhaustion (Warning Stage)
• Heavy sweating
• Weakness or fatigue
• Dizziness or fainting
• Nausea or headache
• Cool, moist skin

➡️ What to do:
• Move to a cooler place
• Sip water slowly
• Remove excess clothing
• Use cool, wet cloths

🚨 Heat Stroke (Emergency!)
• Body temp 103°F or higher
• Hot, red, dry or damp skin
• Rapid pulse
• Confusion or unconsciousness

➡️ What to do:
🔥 CALL 911 immediately!
• Move the person to a cooler place
• Try to lower body temperature with cool cloths or a bath
• Do NOT give them anything to drink

💡 Tips to Stay Cool:
• Drink plenty of water—don’t wait until you’re thirsty
• Stay in air-conditioned spaces if possible
• Avoid strenuous activity during peak heat (11am–4pm)
• Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing
• Never leave pets or people in parked cars—even for a minute

Please check on elderly neighbors, young children, and pets. Stay alert, stay hydrated, and stay cool. 💧☂️

These two pups were found out enjoying an unplanned adventure near Delaware and Lincoln Drive today.

They’re small, fluffy, and clearly living their best lives, but we’re pretty sure someone at home is missing them. They’re safe and being well cared for until we can find their people.
