Just wanted to remind everyone of the parking ordinances that are in effect this time of year - November through March - (Borough Ordinance #450.08).

NO PARKING FROM 2 AM to 6 AM in the following areas:

In any of the Borough's public parking lots, which are located at South Main Street and Church Street, Cummings and Spring Street and the lot located on the Northside of the Fire Department.

Venango Avenue - from Grant Street to South Main Street.

South Main Street - from Grant Street to Venango Avenue.

These parking ordinances are there to assist the Borough's Street Department and PennDOT with snow plowing and snow removal.

We have been trying to be nice and simply issuing Borough parking tickets to parking violators hoping that maybe the violators would start to get the hint and follow the parking restrictions. However, we have been having repeat offenders that think they do not have to follow the parking rules.

With that said, Borough Ordinance #430 gives us the authorization to have parking violators' vehicles towed at the owner's expense if it is parked in violation of the Borough's parking ordinances. That will be costly!

Average tow bill - $200.00
Average impound fee - $75.00
Traffic Citation - Up to a $50.00 fine plus costs.

PLEASE FOLLOW THE PARKING ORDINANCES

Holiday travel is here, and roadways are busy and crowded. Before reacting in frustration, remember that everyone around you has their own journey. A little empathy can transform road rage into patience. As always, move over or slow down for emergency vehicles on the roadside.

Not sure you have the time to volunteer? A huge help to the department without fully committing is adopting a fire hydrant. With the excessive snow we have received that leaves most hydrants buried. Seconds count when we need water. Spending minutes digging out a hydrant can be a huge factor in stopping fire spread. Help us help you by not leaving hydrants buried like this one.
