In just one week, Cambridge Volunteer Fire has responded to three wildland fires.
Two of those incidents were mutual aid responses for our neighboring departments, one with Indian Valley Rural Fire Department and another with Weiser Area Rural Fire District. The third was within our own jurisdiction, the Horse Flat Fire.
When local fire departments, the RFPA, and the U.S. Forest Service come together, we're able to respond quickly and work as one team to keep these fires from growing. We are incredibly grateful for our neighboring departments, not only for coming to our aid when we need them, but also for allowing us to assist them when they call.
As we continue through a year of high fire danger, everyone can play a role in preventing wildfires. Please stay aware of your surroundings, keep grass and vegetation trimmed around structures, use sprinklers to help protect buildings when fires threaten, make sure chains are secured and not dragging, inspect your tires, use extra caution with tools or equipment that can create sparks, and always have water or a fire extinguisher nearby when working outdoors.
Every small step makes a difference, and together we can help protect our communities.
Finally, thank you to everyone who has supported our firefighters by bringing food, water, electrolytes, and words of encouragement while crews have been on the fire line. Your kindness and generosity mean more than you know. We couldn't do this without the support of our community.
