Good news and happy 🍁 fall!
Despite summer fun and recent distractions, which include considerable time spent watching the events following Queen Elizabeth’s passing . . . may she rest in peace . . . I can report that I have been writing and, good news, got some ‘ink’ for Parents Forum.
Our latest newsletter is here with a message from our new board chair Sierrah Chavis in Virginia. In case you do not already subscribe, please do!!

I got letter in the New York Times … how about that!?

…commenting on David Brooks article about the importance of talking to strangers:

And a letter in the September-October issue of Harvard Magazine

…responding to the June-July cover article on youth mental health

Finally I was able to contribute an article, ‘Naming feelings: a dependable “dimmer” for conflict,’ to the fall issue of Contemporary Family.
https://contemporaryfamilymagazine.com
The theme of the issue was high conflict in families. I tried and tried to preview the issue but had no luck, so I will give you the closing bit of the article here.
If we consider feelings, acknowledge them and name them for ourselves, and encourage those whom we work with, serve and care for to do the same, I believe we have a good chance of reducing the intensity of interpersonal conflict. We won’t eliminate it, of course, but we have a chance of building better habits of communication and thereby mitigating the negative effects of high conflict.
I’ll be happy to read any comments on any of the above!
Cheers,
Eve
