The day before the Supreme Court’s disastrous decision to gut the Voting Rights Act of 1965, I signed into law the Maryland Voting Rights Act of 2026.

It bans election systems that weaken the voting power of protected groups. It does what Washington and the Court refuse to do and keeps every vote safe and secure.

We are not waiting for others to do the right thing. We are rising to meet the moment and protecting the right to vote in the state of Maryland.

Great to see Eastern Shore candidate Councilman Josh Hastings in one of Governor Wes Moore's first endorsement announcements.

This endorsement speaks to the strength of leadership coming out of our region and the growing recognition that the Shore deserves a seat at the table in shaping Maryland’s future.

Eight Democratic candidates will get a preprimary boost Tuesday from Gov. Wes Moore (D), amid a push by the state Democratic Party to compete in districts across the state, including some of the reddest districts.

I have joined 20 other attorneys general in a joint statement opposing efforts to restrict access to mifepristone. For more than 25 years, mifepristone has been proven safe and effective and is the most common method for early-term abortion care in the U.S. Attempts to limit it are not based on science—they’re political.

In Maryland, we’ve fought to protect reproductive care by challenging unjustified restrictions, filing briefs to preserve access, and petitioning the FDA to remove unnecessary barriers. We remain committed to safeguarding reproductive freedom.
