With summer break officially underway, local children still needs Friends to ensure their safety and their connectedness to their community. Rising placement costs stemming from out-of-network providers far from Guernsey County makes proving care and assisting families to reunify difficult. How can you help? Did you know children in Ohio can receive one free book every month from birth until age five through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Ohio?

This free program helps build early literacy skills during the most important years of brain development—especially in the earliest years of life, when foundational learning takes place.

Books are mailed directly to your child, helping families build a lifelong love of reading right at home.

Whether you're navigating feeding, healing, sleep, or mood changes, Family Connects Ohio brings the support to you. 👶💖

Today's the day 🗳
Vote YES to show the children in foster care that you believe in them, that you care about their well-being, and that you want them to know they matter!

Truths:
The rising cost of privatized care for placements is not in a Public Children Services Agency's control. YES - without local foster homes to provide care, the agency utilizes private networks where daily rates for care are not capped at reasonable rates, they are whatever private agencies want to charge.

Myths:
Levy funding means pay raises for workers. NO - the funds are used to pay the nearly doubled cost of daily care for the nearly same amount of children in placements. Data from the last 5 years shows the increase equaling millions of dollars paid out with minimal changes to the total children served. Payroll is less than a quarter of the annual budget with placement costs over 60% of the total budget in 2025.

Please VOTE YES FOR CPS 💙💙🗳☑️

Friends of Children are also Friends of our Community. We understand the request for the levy impacts homeowners who are stretched thin already. We understand the request is a difficult one. We also understand that the funding deficit that led to the request for supporting children in foster care may not be something everyone is familiar with. Over 60% of Children Services's annual budget goes to placement costs for children. Workers are paid salaries lower than many surrounding counties. Financial reports are reviewed in detail at the county, state, and federal level; including audits. We understand the struggles of our community but we are a strong supportive community when it counts. May 5th is counts!!

Your ONE YES VOTE means for less than $4 a month per household, children in foster care will continue to have their needs met as families work to reunify and our community is strengthened as families know they matter and are not alone!
