Data centers are a huge concern. At the August 4 council meeting, we put in a one year moratorium on any data centers in Dorchester.

Today, at the Maryland Association of Counties convention, we heard great information from Loundon County (massive amount of data centers in Virginia) and Frederick County about the experiences there with data centers.

We are going to get the protections for we need for Dorchester County in place as soon as possible!

The idea for this l bill started after conversations I had with the Layton’s about their experience with value-added agriculture Layton's Chance Vineyards.

Once the seed of that idea of this code revision was planted, our excellent County staff cultivated it and made it bloom into this initiative.

I visited Ithaca, NY last summer, and had the chance to experience several places like Layton’s Change that will now be possible in Dorchester County. At each stop, I saw not only local commerce, but more importantly, I saw families and people young and old congregating and enjoying each other’s company.

I think William and Jennifer Layton for their insight and for the great work that they do at their winery. Farmers in Dorchester County, please know we want to support you any way we are able.

The proposed constitutional amendment that will be on the ballot in November is just another example of Annapolis ignoring rural Maryland. Tom Hutchinson - Maryland State Delegate - District 37B hit the nail on the head when he tried to get a straw poll on secession for the Shore counties added. Here are my comments on it at last night’s Council meeting:

🚨🚨🚨Great news on Brookview Bridge from SHA this morning!

All of the current weight restrictions are being lifted.

All commercial and agricultural vehicles will still need to limit their speed to 25mph while crossing the bridge in order to limited the wear and tear on the structure.

Please contact me at [email protected] or at 443-477-5082.

Thanks go to District Engineer Mark Crampton and the SHA/MDOT team. I’ve appreciated Mark’s responsiveness on the Brookview Bridge restriction situation.

Great work on a quick completion of the Worlds End culvert replacement, too!

Just got off the phone with SHA about this new restriction on Brookview Bridge. Not much information is available at this time, but I will share it when I receive it, and County staff will ensure that key stakeholders are updated.

This bridge is a vital link for public safety, commerce, agriculture, and convenience. I will continue tracking this closely.
