Ohio Summer Crisis Program Now Available!

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, in partnership with the Area Agency on Aging Region 9, is helping eligible Ohioans stay cool this summer through the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) Summer Crisis Program.

From July 1 through September 30, income-eligible households may receive assistance paying electric bills, purchasing an air conditioner or fan, or repairing a central air conditioning unit.

Eligible households include those that:
* Have received a disconnection notice or have been disconnected.
* Need to establish new electric service.
* Require air conditioning.
* Include a household member age 60 or older.
* Include someone with a qualifying medical condition, such as asthma, COPD, or lung disease.

Households must have a gross income at or below 175% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (or 60% of the State Median Income for households of eight or more). For a family of four, the annual income limit is $57,750.

Last year, the program helped more than 55,000 Ohio households, providing $12.4 million in assistance.

To apply, schedule an appointment with GMN Tri-County Community Action Committee by calling 740-955-8001.

Applicants should bring:
* Most recent energy bill(s)
* Proof of income for all household members
* Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency
* Proof of disability (if applicable)
* Physician documentation if cooling assistance is medically necessary

Eligible households enrolled in PIPP Plus may also qualify for central air conditioning repairs or receive an air conditioner and/or fan.

For more information, contact the Area Agency on Aging Region 9 at 800-945-4250 or visit www.energyhelp.ohio.gov to find your local Energy Assistance Provider.

Are you interested in joining the AAA9 team?

See what Angela Kaltenbaugh has to say about her role at AAA9:

"What I enjoy most about my role is helping seniors remain safely in their homes or assisting them in finding an assisted living facility that provides the security and support they need. It is truly an honor to make a difference in the lives of older adults and their families.

One of the things that stands out most about AAA9 is the team atmosphere. I have yet to meet anyone here who isn't happy to work here. Everyone is supportive, friendly, and willing to help. I especially enjoy speaking with new consumers and family members, sharing information about our services, and helping them find the resources they need.

The most rewarding part of my job is knowing I have a purpose. Every day, I can make a positive impact by providing education, guidance, and support to seniors and their caregivers.

AAA9 is also very family oriented. My son is a senior this year and participates in football, wrestling, and trap shooting. Thanks to the generous PTO package, which begins on day one, I know I can attend his games and matches without missing those important moments. That kind of support for employees and their families is something I truly appreciate.

If I had to describe AAA9 in three words, I would say: Rewarding, Supportive, and Friendly. The people are what make this organization special, and the opportunity to help seniors live safely and maintain their quality of life makes every day meaningful."

If you're looking for a career where you can make a difference while working with a supportive team, AAA9 could be the perfect fit for you.
