The Area Agency on Aging Region 9, Inc. first opened its doors in Cambridge in 1975 as a non profit Section 501(c)(3) organization. We are designated by the Ohio Department of Aging as one of America's nearly 700 Area Agencies on Aging. We serve 9 counties in southeastern Ohio that includes; Belmont, Carroll, Coshocton, Guernsey, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson, Muskingum, & Tuscarawas. We equip people, communities & organizations to prepare for & address challenges in aging & those with disabilities & chronic disease(s) with information, assistance & access to services.

🏛️🍂 HISTORIC SPOTLIGHT | The Potter-Davis Building

From a bustling department store to a building dedicated to serving our community! 🧡

Located at 710 Wheeling Avenue, the historic Potter-Davis Building has been part of downtown Cambridge's story for generations.

📜 A little local history: In the early 1900s, the building was home to the Potter-Davis department store, a place where generations of Cambridge residents shopped and gathered.

As shopping habits changed, the building eventually became largely vacant, sitting underutilized for decades.

But its story wasn't over!

In 2016, a revitalization project began to breathe new life into this historic downtown landmark. By 2019, the beautifully renovated building became home to Area Agency on Aging, Region 9, bringing new purpose and activity to Wheeling Avenue.

Today, the organization provides valuable services and resources to older adults and individuals with disabilities throughout our region.

✨ From shopping for the community to serving the community, the Potter-Davis Building is a wonderful example of how preserving our past can help build a stronger future!

This valuable event brought together leaders from aging and community-based organizations across the country to share ideas, discuss emerging trends, and explore innovative strategies for strengthening services for older adults, caregivers, and individuals with disabilities.
