Friends of the Cambridge Community Library The Friends exist to support the library through community advocacy, activities, events, and by managing funds raised to support library programs.

While we love all our books, sometimes we just have too many. So when our early Wisconsin summer gets too hot or too rainy, use your indoor time to go through your accumulated books, DVDs and puzzles and donate them to the Cambridge Community Library for its 46th annual Used Book Sale and Basket Raffle fund raiser set for August 7 and 8. The sale is not just novels. The Used Book Sale always has a broad spectrum of fiction and non-fiction books, both hard cover and paperback. So w**d through your gardening books, thin out your dieting books, sift through your cookbooks and drop them off (DVDs and puzzles too!) at the Library.

Also, our Basket Raffle is always a “best seller”. Start thinking of a unique book-themed basket to donate. Baskets can be dropped off anytime and Library staff will put them on display prior to the event.

There are volunteer opportunities associated with our sale. Watch this space for information on how to further support our library.

Let’s work together to make this the best Used Book Sale and Basket Raffle yet! The Friends of the Cambridge Community Library thanks everyone for their support.

A great volunteer opportunity exists for a person with website management experience who wishes to support the Friends of the Cambridge Community Library. Our website is fully developed, but we need someone to make website updates and changes from time to time. We anticipate that these duties would only take a few hours a month.

Are you interested? Know someone who may want to help us out? Go to our website at cambridgelibraryfriends.org and click on “Who We Are” to send us an email. The Friends thank you.

Winter is finally in the rearview mirror and we need to celebrate – with chocolate! The Executive Board of the Friends of the Cambridge Community Library is excited to once again host a “Chocolate Friendzy” where members will be treated to chocolate desserts and other tasty concoctions. The gathering will be held on Thursday, April 9 at 6:30pm in the Amundson Center and is a “sweet” opportunity for long-time Friends and new members to meet and mingle. Plus, we always have fun games and prizes.

Not yet a member? There’s still time to join. You can stop by the library for a membership application, or go to our website at: cambridgelibraryfriends.org and click on the “Who We Are” link, or simply come to the Friendzy on April 9 and sign up there.

Whether a continuing member or a “first-timer” we thank you for your support of the Cambridge Community Library and look forward to being with you all at the Chocolate Friendzy on April 9. It’s sure to be a “Friendly” evening of chocolate, games and lots of socializing. See you there (and don’t forget to bring your sweet tooth!)

An Invitation to Join the Friends of the Cambridge Community Library!

The Friends is a non-profit organization in support of the Cambridge Community Library. Our annual membership drive is on now!

Membership dues, contributions and proceeds from fundraising efforts are used to help finance important library programs, services and materials which help to ensure its continuing significance to our community. This year, contributions to the library are especially pertinent as the library is seeing reduced funding from local government sources.

If you’re already a Friend, you should have received a renewal letter along with a return envelope in which to send in your renewal. We hope we can count on your continued support.

Do you have friends, family members or neighbors who are fellow book lovers? Ask them to join! New members can pick up a membership form at the library or can join by visiting our website at: cambridgelibraryfriends.org and click on the “Join Us” link. But you don’t need to join the Friends to support the library – donations are always accepted and can be made on our website.

Whether a continuing member or a “first-timer”, all are welcome to our “Chocolate Friendzy” on Thursday, April 9 at 6:30 in the library where chocolate treats and other goodies will be served as a thank you for supporting the Friends.

The Cambridge Community Library is heating up – with a new club – a Spice Club! Each month a featured spice will be handed out at the library and then participants cook one of the provided recipes or try a different one. Then members gather to discuss the delicious results along with, hopefully, very few failures. January’s spice is Ancho Chili Powder. Pick it up January 19 and then meet on February 18 for “spicy” conversation. What a great way for “foodies” to come together!

Just a reminder… the Friends of the Cambridge Community Library’s Annual Meeting for members is on Thursday, January 22 at 6:30 in the Amundson Center Community Room. Come socialize with fellow Cambridge Community Library lovers and listen to a short presentation by Board members on 2025 achievements and plans for 2026.

At 7:00 the public is invited to join us for an entertaining presentation by our guest speaker, Pat Zietlow Miller. Pat is an award winning, New York Times bestselling author of more than 25 children’s books and is a Sun Prairie resident. She will discuss how ideas are all around us and how those ideas can become stories and how those stories can – maybe – become books.

Even if you’re not a member, you’re welcome to come to our meeting and learn how the efforts of our members directly benefit the Cambridge Community Library. You’re sure to have a good time, and maybe you’ll want to join (membership dues start at only $5.00 😊).
