Harvard Divinity School Library Our primary mission is to support the teaching and research activities of Harvard Divinity School

Founded in 1911, Andover-Harvard Theological Library is located on the Harvard Divinity School campus, adjacent to Andover Hall and the beautiful campus green. Our facilities are open year-round and include group and individual study spaces, quiet reading areas, and the Student Computer Lab. Our primary mission is to support the teaching and research activities of Harvard Divinity School students,

faculty, and staff. We also welcome all Harvard University students, faculty and staff, as well as affiliates of the Boston Theological Institute, local clergy, and other visitors with legitimate research needs to consult our collections of books, journals, electronic resources, rare books, manuscripts, and archival materials.

The library helped HDS celebrate Preston Williams’ birthday on Thursday by displaying some archival materials from his time with the Summer Leadership Institute! This program brought leaders from urban settings to Harvard for two weeks to work on community development projects and create action plans for their communities. Preston Williams founded the program and served as the director from 1998 to 2008. Happy birthday, Preston!

Reading period is now in full swing. To ease stress for students (and anyone else in the HDS community) during this hectic time, the library will welcome Norah and Sophie, certified therapy dogs! They will visit today, May 5, 2026, 2-3:00.

In honor of their visit, we found some additional canine companions in this book describing animals in the bible from 1834.

To commemorate Juneteenth, we invite you to explore our Jordan Neighborhood House photographs collection. Originally established as a Universalist mission in 1897 and later renamed for minister Jordan Fletcher Jordan, the Jordan Neighborhood House became a vital space—offering education, healthcare, and community support to African American residents in the area. View the full collection through the link in our bio.
