The CRA is proud to be a part of the collaborative work on the MXD Substation Project, recognized in The Boston Globe.

This transformative infrastructure project reflects years of partnership, planning, and innovation between the CRA, Eversource, BXP, designers, planners, and public officials to help support the future growth and sustainability of Kendall Square and Cambridge.

The project demonstrates how creative problem-solving and cross-sector collaboration can help cities meet evolving infrastructure needs while supporting housing and economic development.

Construction progress continues at the 1175 Cambridge Street Neighborhood Storefront Project! 🚧

Most demolition work within the space has now been completed, and the project team has begun laying out and locating new walls throughout the storefront. Coordination for new structural footings and columns is also underway as this exciting project continues to move forward.

At the same time, the CRA is continuing to work closely with prospective tenants to help shape the future of this neighborhood-serving commercial space. We look forward to sharing more updates as progress continues!

The Kendall/MIT Outbound Station entrance is officially OPEN, making your daily commute smoother (yes, the escalator is finally working 🙌). It marks a major milestone in accessibility, safety, and community connectivity for the heart of Cambridge’s innovation district.

Step beyond the station and you’ll find the “UP Porch,” a new publicly accessible rooftop space designed for everyone (Open to All). With greenery, seating, and a direct connection between Main Street and the Urban Park roof garden, it’s a fresh way to experience Kendall Square above street level.
