Good Monday Morning! 511ia.org looks apocalyptic at this hour - every state road has impacts with I-35 north closed from Ames to the Minnesota border and I-80 east/west closed from the I-880 Interchange to Iowa City/Coralville.

Northwest to nearly all of eastern Iowa are in "Travel Not Advised" (purple) status. The Blizzard Warning has been extended until 10 a.m.

Roads are sssssslick, winds are ssssstrong, and temps are fffffrigid.

Stay in place unless you have emergency and let crews do their work!

You may have noticed some smoke and fire early this morning. Our firefighters were hard at work by 7 am refining skills and training with live fire. We take these opportunities in "controlled" situations to make sure our skills stay sharp during true emergent situations. Thanks to Huxley Fire and Rescue, Maxwell Fire, and Kelley Fire Deparments for joining in this morning!

The Final Salute

Together with Huxley Fire and Rescue and Huxley Police Department, our firefighters lined the 315th Street bridge between Cambridge and Huxley as a Veteran funeral procession made its way from Waterloo to the final resting place at Iowa Veteran Cemetery.
