Cambridge recently received two grants to support our digital equity goals and help residents access critical online resources. 💻

The Cambridge Community Learning Center (CLC) received 360 digital devices - 300 Chromebooks and 60 laptops - through the Massachusetts Broadband Institute's Connected and Online Program. The CLC, which offers free job training programs, English classes, and programs focused on college and high school equivalency preparation to adults, will loan these devices to students each year to support them in completing coursework, applying for jobs, and accessing important services. 📖 🎓

Stay cool, Cambridge! The first spike in heat is coming tomorrow and Wednesday, and it’s important to know where you can take a break from the sun and rest in the shade. 🥵🌡️

The City recently installed a new series of Cool Spots across Porter Square – welcoming outdoor seating areas designed to bring shade, comfort, and opportunities for social connection to some of the neighborhood’s hottest and most heavily traveled plazas and sidewalks. 😎💧

The new Cool Spots can be found in the heart of Porter Square and south along Mass Ave in the following areas:

- Plaza spaces at the Mass. Ave. entrance of the Porter Square Shopping Center.
- The space beneath the Gift of the Wind kinetic sculpture.
- The block between Lesley's University Hall and Roseland Street.
- In front of the Lunder Arts Center.
- The lively stretch between Arlington Street and Linnean Street.
