Are you turning 65 soon and losing your employer-based health insurance coverage? Are you currently receiving Medicare and interested in updating your coverage? Medicare’s annual Open Enrollment period is from now until December 7!

The Cambridge Council on Aging (COA) can help Cambridge residents with enrolling in Medicare during the Open Enrollment period. The Serving Health Information Needs of Everyone (SHINE) Program is a state-wide program that provides free health insurance information and assistance for Medicare-eligible adults and their caregivers. COA has staff members who are certified SHINE counselors and provide free consultations to Cambridge residents.

Don't forget to register for Cambridge Pride Basketball Tryouts!🏀

The travel basketball league, offered by Cambridge Recreation, is open to Cambridge middle schoolers. The season runs from November through mid-March and encourages participants to recognize and optimize their full potential as student athletes.

There is no cost to tryout for Cambridge Pride. Players who are selected to join the program will need to submit a $50 registration fee before the first scheduled game.

New federal work and immigration requirements are changing who qualifies for SNAP (food assistance) and MassHealth benefits. Thousands of Cambridge residents are impacted by these changes.

We are joining the Cambridge Economic Opportunity Committee (CEOC), Cambridge Community Foundation (CCF) and 30+ community partners across Cambridge to support our community members.

CEOC can help:

- Understand the changes in work and immigration requirements
- Check your eligibility and re-apply if you still qualify

Reminder: the application to the Cambridge Preschool Program (CPP) for the 2027–2028 school year is open through November 13! 🎉

✨CPP provides free or affordable, high-quality early education and care to all Cambridge 4-year-olds and eligible 3-year-olds. Cambridge residents whose children will turn 3 or 4 years old by August 31, 2027 are eligible to apply ✨

Families can choose from a variety of Cambridge-based preschool programs on the CPP application, including Cambridge Public Schools, the Department of Human Service Programs, and community-based programs.

CPP covers the cost of the school-day, school-year portion of preschool programs. Depending on a family's income, there may be additional costs for programs that provide full-day, full-year (including summer) preschool.
