☀May outreach recap! As the weather has gotten warmer, we've loved having the opportunity to be outside doing outreach. This month, we tabled at the Cambridge Community Learning Center during teacher/student conferencing, the City's Fair Housing Month event, the Central Square Farmers Market opening day, Newtowne Court Family Day resource fair, and the Cambridge Kicks Off Summer Community Social! Sharing our services directly in the community is one of our favorite things to do!

Did you know we opened our food pantry in 1988? Our pantry has been a crucial resource for community members over the past few decades, and we’re so grateful for our volunteers and staff who keep it running. Swipe to see the pantry’s transformation from then to now! And you can read more about our history on the website timeline:

Today we’re highlighting the impact of one of our newest programs! Journey to Hope is CEOC’s wellness support service. It’s a 5-session one on one intervention focused on stress management, problem solving, goal setting, and self-care. We measure stress and depression symptoms at the beginning and the end of the program and have found that for participants completing the 5 sessions, both stress and depression scores decrease! We deliver this program both one on one and in group settings. Reach out to learn more!

About a year ago, we filled Inman Street with joy, community, and connection as we commemorated our 60th anniversary. More than 700 community members came together for a day filled with music, food, games, dancing, reflective speeches, and celebration. As we look back on these photos, we’re reminded that even in moments when the world feels uncertain or heavy, community joy matters. Connection matters. Coming together matters.

This day was an incredible outpouring of support made possible by dozens of volunteers, community partners, staff, and neighbors who showed up to celebrate what we’ve built together over the last six decades.

As food insecurity has increased, access to SNAP has decreased. In the past year, the SNAP caseload has dropped by 80,000 households in large part because recipients can't get in touch with DTA. In March, 81% of calls to DTA were disconnected due to high call volume, meaning the vast majority of SNAP recipients have no way of speaking to a case worker. This is unacceptable - we need the state to infuse DTA with funding for more case workers. Read more here:

And if you or someone you know needs help with SNAP, please call, email or visit CEOC! As a SNAP outreach partner, we can get in touch with DTA quicker than a recipient can on their own!
