First-Day Photo Safety with Therapy K9 Jack

Therapy K9 Jack helped us demonstrate a few important do’s and don’ts for first-day-of-school photos.

DO choose a neutral outdoor background, such as an open grassy area, that is not easily recognizable.

DON’T take the photo in front of the school entrance or include the school’s name, logo, mascot, or other identifying signs.

DO check the entire background before posting.

DON’T include your house, house number, mailbox, street sign, bus number, or other details that could reveal where your child lives or attends school.

First-day photos are a wonderful tradition but take a moment to look over the entire picture before sharing it online. A simple background can help protect your child’s privacy while still capturing the excitement of the day.

These funds will help support the ongoing care of K-9 Jack as he continues serving our department and community. We are grateful for this thoughtful contribution and the continued support of our therapy dog program.

SCAM ALERT

Today, employees at the Cambridge Walmart helped prevent a community member from becoming the victim of a gift card scam.
A cashier became concerned when a customer attempted to purchase gift cards under suspicious circumstances. The employees recognized the warning signs, spoke with the customer, and helped stop the scam before any money was lost.

The Cambridge Police Department would like to commend these employees for their attentiveness and willingness to step in. Their actions made a meaningful difference.

Gift cards are a common payment method used by scammers. Legitimate businesses, government agencies, and law enforcement officers will not demand payment through gift cards.

If someone pressures you to purchase gift cards, send money, or provide personal information, stop and verify the situation before taking action. If you believe you are being targeted by a scam, please contact the Cambridge Police Department. We would rather have you call and ask questions than become the victim of a scam.

Stay alert. Stop, think, and verify.

We are incredibly proud of the work that School Resource Officer Kevin Gross and K9 Jack are doing for the Cambridge community and our schools.

Jack is much more than a police dog, he is a professionally trained therapy dog who provides comfort and support to students, staff, community members, and even first responders following difficult or traumatic events. The positive impact this team has made in such a short time has been remarkable.

A huge thank you to Happy Productions Studios for inviting SRO Gross and Jack to share their story on The Local Lowdown. We appreciate the opportunity to highlight this valuable resource and the difference it is making in our community.

🍋 Community Connections, One Cup at a Time! 👮‍♂️💙

A big thank you to these young entrepreneurs for serving up some refreshing lemonade on a warm day! Officer Cris Rosa was happy to stop by, support their stand, and spend a few minutes visiting with them.

One of the best parts of policing is getting to know the people who make Cambridge such a great community. Whether it’s answering a call for service or simply stopping by a neighborhood lemonade stand, these small interactions help build the relationships that make our city stronger.

Thank you for your hard work, your smiles, and the delicious lemonade. We wish you the best of luck with your business!
