The Cambridge Police Department is proud to announce the graduation of two recruits from the 96th class of the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy (ESCJA). Officer Davonte Holbrook and Officer Michael Thornton II were sworn in immediately following the ceremony, officially joining the force. We offer our congratulations to these officers and all graduates of the ESCJA's 96th class, and we encourage them to uphold the highest standards of honor and pride in their service.

Along side our officers the children of New Beginnings made Cowboy Caviar, Fresh Fruit Salad, and Pasta with Grilled Chicken. Each student participant took a dish home for dinner that they prepared.

We will be at our local Chic fil a, this Friday June 5th from 7:00am-2:00pm or until all shirts are sold out. This year the shirts are $20 and we only have 300 shirts. You don’t want to be left out. May 28, 2026

Trespassing – 5-17-26
At approximately 12:50 p.m. on May 17, 2026, CPD Officers patrolling the 600 block of Pine St observed a subject trespassing on posted property. Officers contacted Rodney Lee Hammond (46 years old from Cambridge, MD). Hammond was issued a Criminal Citation and released on the following charge:
• Trespass Posted Property

Burglary – 5-18-26
At approximately 12:44 a.m. on May 18, 2026, CPD Officers responded to the 100 block of Hayward St in reference to a subject kicking a door attempting to gain entry. Upon officers’ arrival they observed a subject walking away from the residence. The subject was detained by officers and identified as Debracy Avonte Wheatley (33 years old from Cambridge, MD). Officers contacted the victim where it was learned the victim had a Protection Order in place against Wheatley. Officers observed that a front storm door to a porch was damaged from forced entry and kick marks to the house door. Officers observed the tread on Wheatley’s shoes matched the shoe prints on the door. Wheatley was placed under arrest and later turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on No Bond. Wheatley was charged with the following:
• Violate Final Protection Order
• Burglary 3rd Degree
• Burglary 4th Degree
• Attempted 3rd Degree Burglary
• Attempted 4th Degree Burglary
• Malicious Destruction of Property Less Than $1,000
• Trespass Posted Property
• Intoxicated Endangerment

Assault – 5-19-26
At approximately 3:46 p.m. on May 19, 2026, CPD Officers responded to the 10 block of Cedar St in referent to a physical disturbance in progress. Officers contacted the subjects involved where the victim reported only a verbal argument occurred. Officers observed the victim to be lying on the ground upon their arrival. Officers observed the victim’s neck to be red and bruised. Through further investigation officers learned that the victim had been assaulted by Lamar Marcus Smith (29 years old from Cambridge, MD) by being grabbed by the throat and pushed to the ground. Smith was placed under arrest and was later turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on no bond. Smith was charged with the following:
• Assault 1st Degree
• Assault 2nd Degree
• Reckless Endangerment

Trespassing – 5-22-26
At approximately 7:02 a.m. on May 22, 2026, CPD Officers responded to the 500 block of Race St in reference to a subject trespassing. Officers contacted the complainant who reported finding a subject sleeping on a bus on the property. Officers located the subject who was identified as Tyler Joseph Durfrensne (26 years old from Cambridge, MD). The property was posted with No Trespassing signs and property management advised nobody had permission to be on the property. Durfrensne was issued Criminal Citations and released on the following charge:

Burglary – 5-22-26
At approximately 4:25 p.m. on May 22, 2026, CPD Officers responded to the 800 block of Peachblossom Ave in reference to a burglary in progress. Upon officers’ arrival they located a female on the front porch. Officers began to check the residence when they located a male subject exiting from a rear window. The female subject was identified as Satasha Monique Sharp (39 years old from Cambridge, MD). The male subject was identified as Rudell Askins Jr (68 years old from Cambridge, MD). Both subjects were placed under arrest. Search incident to arrest items of Controlled Dangerous Substances were located. Both subjects were transported to CPD for processing and later released on $5,000.00 unsecured bond. Both were charged with the following:
• Burglary 3rd Degree
• Burglary 4th Degree
• Trespass Posted Property
• CDS Possession Not Cannabis
• CDS Possession Paraphernalia

Assault – 5-24-26
At approximately 8:30 a.m. on May 24, 2026, CPD Officers responded to the 2500 block of Boeing Way in referent to a physical disturbance. Officers contacted the subjects involved where the victim reported being assaulted by Jillian Kathleen Twyman (35 years old from Cambridge, MD). The victim reported that Twyman grabbed them by the arm then grabbed them by the throat and strangled them. Officers observed signs of injury to the victim. Twyman was placed under arrest and transported to CPD for processing and later turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on No Bond. Twyman was charged with the following:
- Assault 1st Degree
- Assault 2nd Degree
- Reckless Endangerment

Burglary – 5-24-26
At approximately 1:49 p.m. on May 24, 2026, CPD Officers responded to the Choptank Corner Laundromat for a burglary investigation. Officers contacted property management who reported that forced entry had been noticed into a secured room in the laundromat. Officers observed damage to the door and to coin machines. Through video footage officers observed a subject who they were able to identify as Christian Lee Hill (49 years old from Cambridge, MD). Hill is observed forcefully entering the locked room and using a drill to gain entry into the coin machines. Hill is then observed leaving and coming back with an empty soft cooler and then leaving with a heavy filled cooler. Officers applied for charges on Hill with the Court Commissioner who issued a Criminal Summons. CPD Officers served the criminal summons on Hill on 5/26/26 at approximately 5:23 p.m. Hill was charged with the following:
• Burglary 2nd Degree
• Burglary 4th Degree
• Malicious Destruction of Property Less $1,000 Value
• Malicious Destruction of Property Over $1,000 Value
• Theft $1,500 to Under $25,000


D.U.I. – 5-25-26
At approximately 10:34 p.m. on May 25, 2026, CPD Officers responded to the 700 block of Bayly Ave for a Hit and Run. Officers contacted a victim who reported observing a red truck cross the center line striking a mailbox and parked vehicle. Officers canvassed the area and located the vehicle around the St. Lukes Church on Bayly Ave. Officers observed the vehicle to have damage consistent with the accident. Officers contacted the two (2) occupants of the vehicle. The driver was identified as Dominic Damian Biggs (18 years old from Woolford, MD). Biggs was belligerent and uncooperative with officers. Officers observed signs of impairment with Biggs. Biggs refused to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) and was placed under arrest and transported to CPD for processing. Biggs was issued citations and released and charged with the following:
• Driving Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol
• Driving While Impaired by Alcohol
• Violate License Restriction
• Negligent Driving
• Fail to Drive Right of Center
• Failure to Control Vehicle Speed to Avoid Collision
• Failure to Return to and Remain at Scene of Accident


Warrant Arrest – 5-26-26
At approximately 9:00 a.m. on May 26, 2026, CPD Officers arrested Lionel Antonio Shaw (25 years old from Cambridge, MD) in the 500 block of Edgewood Ave on an active Worcester County District Court Bench Warrant for failure to appear in court on 4-27-26 on an original charge of Driving on a Suspended License. Shaw was later turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on no bond.


Assault – 5-26-26
At approximately 9:00 a.m. on May 26, 2026, CPD Officers arrested Lionel Antonio Shaw (25 years old from Cambridge, MD). During the arrest Shaw was transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Cambridge. While at the hospital Shaw damaged property, assaulted a security guard and a Cambridge Police Officer. Shaw was released from the hospital and turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on an unrelated bench warrant. Officers completed an application of charges on Shaw where a Criminal Summons was issued. Shaw was served the Criminal Summons at the detention center on 5/27/26. Shaw was charged with the following:
• Assault 2nd Degree (2 counts)
• Malicious Destruction of Property


Assault – 5-26-26
At approximately11:45 a.m. on May 26, 2026, CPD Officers responded to the 900 block of High St in reference to a physical disturbance. Officers contacted the victim who reported while they and a subject identified as Joseph Lamont Wood (25 years old from Cambridge, MD) were driving to Walmart. The victim reported while Wood was driving an argument started over the speed Wood was operating the vehicle. The victim attempted to have Wood stop the vehicle when Wood pushed the victim. Officers observed signs of injury to the victim. Wood was placed under arrest and later released on $7,500.00 unsecured bond. Wood was charged with the following:
• Assault 2nd Degree


Warrant Arrest – 5-26-26
At approximately 12:26 p.m. on May 26, 2026, CPD Officers arrested Dazjane Ijenique Johnson (28 years old from Cambridge, MD) in the 900 block of High St on an active Dorchester County District Court Bench Warrant for failure to appear in court on 4-2-26 on an original charge of Driving on a Suspended License. Johnson was later released on $5,000.00 unsecured bond.


Trespassing – 5-26-26
At approximately 8:26 p.m. on May 26, 2026, CPD Officers responded to the Bradford House located in the 700 block of Race St in reference to a subject trespassing. Officers located the subject in the driveway area of the property upon their arrival. The subject was identified as Tyrone Anthony Cropper Sr (41 years old from Cambridge, MD). Cropper had been banned from the property by management. During a search of Cropper, officers located suspected He**in. Cropper was issued Criminal Citations and released on the following charges:
• Trespass Private Property
• CDS Possession Not Cannabis


Trespassing – 5-27-26
At approximately 1:20 a.m. on May 27, 2026, CPD Officers patrolling the 600 block of Pine St observed a subject trespassing on posted property. Officers contacted Edwin Tyrone Felton Jr (53 years old from Cambridge, MD). While speaking with Felton, officers observed a second subject walk onto the posted property. Officers then contacted Jose Antonio Valazquez Rivera (58 years old from Cambridge, MD). Both subjects were issued a Criminal Citation and released on the following charge:

Warrant Arrest – 5-28-26
At approximately 10:55 a.m. on May 28, 2026, CPD Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Rt 16 and Stone Boundary Rd for passing on the right. Officers contacted the driver identified as Jerome Dion Wongus (66 years old from East New Market, MD). Wongus had an active warrant out of DE for Armed Robbery. Wongus was placed under arrest and later turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on No Bond awaiting extradition to DE.
