The time is coming to register for the 2022 Poor Boy Open Fishing Tournament on Saturday, August 31st. This year all proceeds will benefit of the Dorchester County Young Life in Cambridge, MD. 100% goes towards the youth in Dorchester Co. Entry is still only $65 and includes a Barbie tournament rod*, event t-shirt, entertainment, and catered food by Portside. Never heard of the event?... well the
event was created by Composite Yacht to “even the playing field” for fishing tournaments. To make if fair, everyone receives a pink Barbie fishing rod, that they MUST use. Lines in at 6:30am and out by 3:30pm and all fish must be caught on the Choptank River, however there is no limit as to where in the river they are caught. In fact you don’t even need a boat, fish from land or bridge we don’t care! There are cash prizes for first, second, and third place fish in each of the five species of fish (Rockfish, Hardhead, Catfish, Perch, and Spot)
If you are a male, add $10 to your entry fee to compete in the Male Calcutta prize. This prize will be awarded to the male who catches the largest fish. Prize is based on 50/50 entry fee. 50% of the entry fee benefits the wYLdlife Ministry and 50% is awarded to the male winner. If you are a female, add $10 to your entry fee to compete in the Female Calcutta prize. This prize will be awarded to the female who catches the largest fish. Prize is based on 50/50 entry fee. 50% of the entry fee benefits the Dorchester Co. Capernaum (Our ministry for students with mental or physical disabilities) and 50% is awarded to the female winner. Important Notice: Each angler (over the age of 16) must have a current Maryland fishing license and must abide by all Maryland DNR guidelines.
