This holiday season please consider supporting the women of rural Namibia. Your gift will support the women and their children in these communities and help them stay safe. Your gift will help Ubuntu at Work:
Donate face masks (made in Rundu, Namibia) to their communities, and menstrual cups (made by our partner nonprofit in South Africa, MINA) to women.
Re-double our efforts to provide phones and phone cards to women.
Develop initiatives to help kids who have been unable to attend schools due to the lockdown catch up on their lessons and connect to tutors via Ubuntu’s SMS platform.
We recognize that there is much need around the world at this time, and deep inequities all around us. You're probably already helping in all the ways you can. But if you can support Ubuntu women at this time, to whatever extent possible, we would be most grateful. Every little bit helps. $15 provides 5 masks to a family in Namibia (and also income to woman in Rundu who sews the masks) for example.

During these grim COVID times, women artisans, weavers, and traders struggling to eke out a living, have just had to struggle even more to make sure they, and their children, survive. The lockdown has hurt them in unimaginable ways and income-generating opportunities have largely disappeared.
Under these circumstances, we have stretched our resources to support the women, and their families, stay safe in all the ways we can. We have continued to compensate women for their craft products, even though we are currently unable to ship the items to stores or deliver them to you. We have donated face masks to their communities, and menstrual cups (made by our partner nonprofit in South Africa, MINA) to women. We have re-doubled our efforts to provide phones and phone cards to women. Finally, we have been developing creative efforts to support their school-going children - kids who are unable to attend schools due to the lockdown, and don't have the opportunity to learn online.

Ubuntu at Work will be donating menstrual cups made in Africa from medical grade silicone to women/girls in three Kavango villages.

We’d like to increase the number of villages in Namibia and elsewhere in sub-Saharan Africa, but for that we’d need support.

Would folks be interested in chipping in the cost of a fancy coffee ($5) to help donate a cup to a woman? The cups cost $10 each plus shipping. The cup lasts for 5 years.

We’re planning a fundraising campaign. Would love your thoughts.

Happy new year! Here’s to hoping all our children, families, and communities have a bright and joyous 2020!
