Built from over 200 authentic Maryland crab baskets, our one-of-a-kind Christmas tree celebrates the watermen and holiday tradition in Cambridge, MD. The Cambridge, MD crab basket tree is an annual, community-built holiday tradition that incorporates around 200 crab bushel baskets, buoys, and lights to create a large, festive tree, often standing about 25 feet tall. It is located in downtown Cambr

idge and was founded in 2013 by Brandon Hesson, the Assistant City Manager of Cambridge. This iconic land mark goes up the day after Thanksgiving with help from a handful of local, regular volunteers, carefully climbing up the baskets, one level at a time. Bay Country Communications lends the bucket truck to help volunteers top off those last few baskets safely.
