Our kids have officially arrived at the University of Tennessee at Martin for this year's Tennessee Teen Institute (TTI)!

TTI is an incredible five-day leadership camp that empowers youth ages 13-19 to become positive leaders in their schools and communities.

Throughout the week, participants learn about substance abuse prevention, bullying prevention, healthy decision-making, and how to lead their peers toward safer, healthier lifestyles.

We are excited to watch these young leaders learn, grow, and gain the confidence to return home ready to educate and inspire others about the importance of living drug-free, alcohol-free, and vape-free lives.

Please keep our students in your thoughts and prayers as they embark on this life-changing experience. We can't wait to hear about everything they learn and accomplish this week!

If your child would be interested in attending Tennessee Teen Institute with us next year, please reach out. We'd love to help them become part of this amazing opportunity!

The Franklin County Prevention Coalition proudly supports the DEA’s “One Pill Can Kill” initiative and the movement toward a Fentanyl-Free America.

Fentanyl continues to impact communities across our nation, often in ways people don’t expect. Many counterfeit pills and substances are being laced with fentanyl, making even a single use potentially life-threatening. Awareness, education, and prevention are critical in protecting our families and especially our youth.

Our team also had the opportunity to hear from Sean Fearns with the DEA this morning at the NADEC Conference, reinforcing the urgency of this message and the importance of community action.

We stand alongside the DEA in raising awareness, promoting safe choices, and encouraging open conversations about the risks associated with substance misuse. Together, we can make a difference by staying informed, looking out for one another, and taking action in our community.

Fentanyl is poisoning communities across our country. It is now the leading cause of death for adults ages 18–45.

⚠️ It’s hidden in counterfeit pills
⚠️ It’s disguised as something safe
⚠️ It only takes 2 milligrams, smaller than a grain of salt, to kill.

Every day, lives are lost.
Real people. Real families. Real futures.

Many never knew what they were taking.
They didn’t get a second chance.

💜 Today, we remember those we’ve lost.
💜 And we fight for the ones we can still protect.

Awareness saves lives.
Education matters.
Conversations count.

On Friday, April 24th from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM, the Benton County Prevention Coalition will be hosting a Drug Take Back Day in front of the Camden Walmart!

This event is part of a nationwide initiative led by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) aimed at providing a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired medications.

Drug Take Back Day helps prevent medication misuse, reduces the risk of overdose, and keeps harmful substances out of our homes, waterways, and communities.

Too often, unused prescriptions sit in medicine cabinets where they can be accidentally taken, misused, or stolen. This initiative gives everyone a simple way to clear them out safely with no questions asked.

💊 Bring us your:
● Expired medications
● Unused prescriptions
● Over-the-counter medications you no longer need.

We’ll take care of the rest by ensuring they are disposed of properly and safely.

Let’s work together to protect our families, prevent substance misuse, and keep Benton County safe and strong.

This week, we had the incredible opportunity to be in RX Summit in Nashville, learning, connecting, and bringing resources back home to Benton County.

Sgt. Chris Richard, Benton County Sheriff’s Office Liaison to the Benton County Prevention Coalition, attended alongside Nikki Green, Lifeline Peer Project Coordinator and Vice President of the Benton County Prevention Coalition.

While there, Sgt. Richard secured over $3,000 in life-saving donations that will be placed directly into our community to help protect our youth. This equipment will play a critical role in keeping our students safe and prepared.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to OverdoseKits.com and RX Destroyer for their generosity and commitment to communities like ours.

A special thank you to the Benton County Sheriff's Office for continuing to support the mission of the Benton County Prevention Coalition and standing alongside us in the fight to protect our kids.

Together, we are making a difference. 💙
