ATTENTION KERSHAW COUNTY STATE CONVENTION DELEGATES

By a unanimous vote of the South Carolina Republican Party State Executive Committee, the State Convention body has been recalled and will reconvene on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

The convention is being recalled for one specific purpose: to consider and vote on a proposed South Carolina Republican Party rule regarding Closed Primaries.

As a duly elected delegate, your participation is important. This vote will be decided by the convention body, and every delegate’s voice matters.

Please watch your email closely throughout the coming week for additional information, registration details, and convention procedures from the SCGOP.

Today, we pause as a nation to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day.

Today is more than the unofficial start of summer, backyard cookouts, or a long weekend. Memorial Day is a sacred day of remembrance for the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States of America so that we may continue to live in freedom.

Across generations, courageous Americans laid down everything — their dreams, their futures, and ultimately their lives — for a cause greater than themselves. Their sacrifice purchased liberties that many around the world can only hope for.

To those who understand the weight of a folded flag… to the Gold Star families who carry both pride and heartbreak… please know that we stand beside you. In times of grief and in times of joy, we remain forever grateful for the lives that were given for us and for this nation we love. They will not be forgotten.

Their sacrifice is woven into every freedom we enjoy today. As we gather with family and friends, may we never forget the cost of our freedom. Let us honor the fallen not only with our words, but by living as grateful Americans who cherish faith, family, community, and country.

There has been some confusion regarding polling locations and congressional districts, so let’s clear this up:

Polling locations are determined by the LOCAL PRECINCT where a voter resides — NOT by congressional districts.

Congressional districts determine who represents you in Congress. Your precinct determines where you physically go to cast your ballot.

Even if district lines change through redistricting, that alone does not automatically change your polling location. Polling locations are managed at the county level through the local voter registration and elections office.

It’s important that we educate voters with facts and accurate election information so citizens can stay informed and confident in the election process.

Know your precinct. Know your polling place. Make your voice heard at the ballot box.

While we’re on the topic of polling locations, be sure to note which polling locations have been combined for the upcoming June 9th primary!

With H. 5683 passing the House and now moving to the Senate, what are your thoughts on the proposed Congressional redistricting?

At the core of this conversation, we must understand that regardless of when this takes place, there will be a significant financial cost to the State of South Carolina to conduct a special election — whether that happens now, this coming August as some have mentioned or sometime in the future.

What matters most is doing what is in the best interest of the citizens of our state and our communities.

As Kershaw County citizen face probable changes from the 5th Congressional District to the proposed new 6th Congressional District, this discussion directly impacts our representation and our voice in Washington.

For the upcoming June 9th statewide primary there are 6 precincts in Kershaw County that have had to combine. Be sure to verify your polling location before you head out the door on June 9th!!
