Although controversy may arise, we still find purpose and integrity in what we do every single day. Many people only get to see the negative side of corrections, but they rarely get the opportunity to see the positive impact made behind the gates.

They don’t always see the mentorship, the sacrifices, the long hours, the compassion, the professionalism, or the dedication it takes to serve this community. They don’t see the officers and supervisors who continue to show up day after day despite the challenges that come with this profession.

And although we may get hit hard at times, we come back even harder.

This week, the Kershaw County Detention Center proudly celebrated Correctional Officer Appreciation and employee appreciation Week. We are forever thankful for the officers and supervisors who continue to stand on the front lines and serve with strength, resilience, and commitment.

These Guardians of the Gate help build the foundation of our detention center and play a vital role in keeping our facility and community safe.

To all of our staff: thank you for everything you do. Your hard work does not go unnoticed, and your dedication is appreciated more than words can express. Continue to be agents of excellence.
