Good afternoon,

The safety and well-being of our participants remain the highest priority across all of our youth recreation programs.

Due to extreme temperatures, Kershaw County is under a heat advisory until 8:00 PM today, with the heat index potentially reaching nearly 110 degrees during our scheduled activities.

With safety in mind, all youth tackle and flag football practices scheduled for today, Tuesday, August 18, have been postponed.

Technical Soccer has decided to follow suit and will be cancelling their activities as well.

Good afternoon,

The safety of our participants is always our top priority for all youth recreational programs.

Due to multiple notifications regarding a heat advisory in effect until 8:00 PM today—with heat index values expected to top 110 degrees during scheduled program hours—our staff has decided to postpone today's activities.

For Monday, August 17, 2026, the following updates apply:

Youth Flag Football & Tackle Football Practices: Postponed for today due to extreme heat.

Fall Dixie Boys 13-14 Skill Evaluations: Postponed for today and will be rescheduled.

Technical Soccer Activities: Canceled for today in accordance with safety measures.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Calling all local businesses and organizations: registration for our Fall/Winter Community Events begins today! Our events are a success because of you! Come join us this year and help make these events even more special for the community of Kershaw County!

Due to the significant rainfall received over the weekend, fields are heavily saturated with standing water. Consequently, the fields are currently unusable and unsafe for activities.

All adult coed church softball games for today, Monday, August 3 have been cancelled.

Hunter Coleman will also reach out to teams informing them of today's cancellation and will work on the makeup schedule for today's games.

We ask everyone to please stay off the fields to allow them to dry and recover.

AGE CUTOFF CHANGE APPROVED BY DIAMOND YOUTH SOFTBALL

Diamond Youth Softball (DYS) recently announced an approved change to the age cutoff policy for its softball programs, starting with the 2027 season.

The new cutoff date is set for August 31st of the preceding year. Under this new rule, a player's age as of August 31, 2026, will determine their league age for the 2026 fall ball season, the 2027 regular season, and the 2027 tournament play.

Please note that this updated age cutoff policy is already reflected in our ongoing fall sports registration. This age cutoff may allow some of our participants to now be eligible for the 2026 fall and the upcoming 2027 spring softball seasons.

For safety and facility management, NO BAGS will be permitted inside the gymnasium during these open runs.

🚨🚨🚨Mark your calendars!!! Fall Sports Registration (both online at kershawcounty.recdesk.com and in office) will begin Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Registration will end on Friday, July 24, 2026. Cost of registration is $50 per child. 🚨🚨🚨

Fall Sports Include:
-Flag Football (6-7 Flag, 8-10 Flag, 11-12 Flag): League age is age as of September 1, 2026

-Tackle Football (8-10 Tackle and 11-12 Tackle): League age is age as of September 1, 2026

-Fall Baseball (7-8 Coaches Pitch, 9-10 Dixie AAA, 11-12 Dixie Ozone and 13-14 Dixie Boys): League age is age as of April 30, 2027

-Fall Softball (7-8 Darlings, 9-10 Angels, and 11-12 Ponytails): League age is age as of December 31, 2026

For our seasons to be successful, we NEED volunteer head coaches for our teams in our fall sports programs. We want ALL teams to have a coach overseeing them from the start of the season starting with the draft. If you are interested, please indicate during your child(ren)'s registration or you can contact us at our office. If you know of anyone that is interested, please have them contact our office and let us know as well.
