Observed each year on August 31, the day celebrates the history, culture and natural beauty of the Palmetto State.

The City of Camden, Police Chief Jack Rushing and the entire Camden Police Department extend our deepest condolences to the Columbia Police Department following the tragic loss of one of their officers in the line of duty.

We mourn alongside his family, friends, fellow officers and the Columbia community as they face this heartbreaking loss.

His courage, service and sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Please keep his loved ones and our brothers and sisters at the Columbia Police Department in your thoughts and prayers during the difficult days ahead. 💙

The City of Camden is aware that some customers have noticed an unusual taste or odor in their tap water.

This is caused by seasonal algal activity in Lake Wateree, Camden’s raw water source, brought on by sustained warm temperatures. While the taste and odor may be unpleasant, the water remains safe to drink and continues to meet all federal and state water quality standards.

City water treatment staff have switched to a deeper water intake and adjusted the activated carbon treatment process to help reduce the taste and odor.

Staff will continue monitoring conditions and making adjustments as needed.

Camden City Council considered a proposed mural for Gallery 537 and an ordinance addressing billboards and digital signs during its latest meeting.

Council also received public comments regarding rezoning and HOA matters, recognized local leadership and discussed mutual aid, litter prevention and other community initiatives.
